Now this is what YouTube is really about, airing petty grievences in exhaustive detail! 🤣 Great Story telling!

How is this video longer than the race itself?

i dont know why the al gore rhythm suggested this video but i genuinely enjoyed every second or this story.

Legendary video. I’ve never been more invested in a Cupid charity 5k in my life.

Good on the friend fir calling out the cheater

I do feel bad for the people who were robbed of their moment getting applauded and getting a little plastic trophy, it might only be a silly little thing but I’d be gutted to be robbed of thst moment if I deserved it because someone cheated! Big fan of everyone looking into things and calling them out.

Most of the 5ks I've run have given the "top 3 finisher" awards to the first top 3 to cross the finish line.  Age group goes by chip timing, but for the top three finishers they say, hey, it's a race so you have to beat the others.

I made my living as a running coach in NYC for about 14 years. I trained a ton of runners for many race distances and have also raced a ton of 5ks in NYC, including in Prospect Park. For the life of me, I cannot understand why a recreational runner would cheat on any race! Every person that does this cheats themselves of an opportunity to test their true fitness, in addition to wasting their money. It's absolutely ridiculous! I'm sorry to see that you and the other runners were cheated out of their official results.

I had a dad push his child in a stroller and the child beat my 10 year old. Whats worse is that dad allowed him to accept the medal. When I emailed the race organization about it and told them that they were in the official race pictures with the child being pushed across the finish line in a stroller all I got was "We will try to do better next year" 🙄

This reminds me when the wife and I ran a local 8k. We are not fast. When they were announcing the top 3 for all the events when they called my wife's name. My dumb ass signed her up as competitive walker vice a runner 🤦‍♂️
The difference is that she walked up, had a quick chat with the announcer, and had her name taken off.

I just need you to know this video made my day. I live for drama that has absolutely nothing to do with me. You gave me every detail I needed to know 👏

The way you fix this is having at 3rd timing mat minimum located either halfway or at the furthest distance from the finish line. Ideally you'd have more, but most chip timed fun runs cheap out an only have Start/Finish timing mats.

This hit my algorithm today and as a avid local race runner I throughly enjoyed this story, makes me wish for some drama at my local fun run! 😂

Low stake but still a gripping drama.

I knew a guy who would lie about his age trying to get into an older age group hoping he would get a first place. He wouldn't even place lol

Thank you for investigating this so conclusively.  It had been weighing heavily on my mind.

Surprised there was no marshal at the obvious potential short cuts

I followed speed running in video games and was shocked to learn how rampant cheating was and the lengths people will go to cheat for often little benefit other than bragging rights. I am no longer shocked to find out how often some people are willing to cheat in almost everything.

If you watch enough of YouTube there’s plenty of cheating at all distances both elite and non-elite.  My favorite is the non-runner “influencers” who enter races to get accolades from their many followers for finishing, only to find out their “check-ins” at key race points are nonexistent.  It also happened to a female running influencer who was caught cheating and they get special perks at the big races.

I don't know how i got here, but I enjoyed every minute of it
