A scam call came into the mobile phone of a BSN Niigata Broadcasting reporter.
When the reporter continued to "pretend to have been deceived" and attempted to contact the caller, he was told "identity verification is required in order to file a complaint," and was directed to a LINE video call.
When he pressed the call button, a man in a police uniform appeared on his smartphone screen.
The man introduced himself as "Inspector Sayama," and coincidentally, he used the same name as the person who had made a scam call to the reporter three weeks earlier.
This is the second installment of the "fake police officer" vs. reporter series.
