It's endlessly frustrating that the judges always say "you HAVE to speak up for yourself!" and then when a girl actually does, they call her unprofessional!!! omfg

Forcing an 18 year old to be naked in front of people is so wrong and revolting

I hate hate HATE how Jay Manuel acts like he was a victim like it wasn't recorded the way he treated the girls and was also part of the problem!

tyra literally said “homelessness is an issue close to my heart, i pretended to be homeless a year ago” girl

Instead of firing the guy at the end for sexual harassment, they tell the model she needs to control the situation. These people are sick. This show was straight up abuse organized by bitter has-been models taking out their resentment on the newer generation for views.

I think they deliberately planned certain photoshoots to get a reaction out of the girls. There’s no way two contestants from different seasons had friends that died and then they later had death themed photo shoots. That can’t be coincidence. They did little slick things like constantly commenting on Keenyahs weight  (from cycle 4) and then having her protray gluttony and an elephant in one photoshoot. It’s crazy bc she wasn’t even fat.

I used to watch this show religiously. Now that I'm grown I realize how toxic it really was. I will never forget when they forced Kayla to kiss guys even after she said she was SA as a child and was afraid of men 😢

They def knew that girls friend passed away before that shoot 🙄

Nah Tyra. That girl had hypothermia. And you saw that. Like yall dropped the temp of the pool. There shouldn’t be a challenge where people are in danger. And that man was being slick racist and yall eliminate her. That’s trash af.

Tyra Banks is one of those boomers in the creative industry that tells the new gen “I had to do it so you fucking have to” instead of using her position to change all of that she continues to perpetuate it
ESPECIALLY SA WHICH IS IN EVERY INDUSTRY

My mom and I noticed that if a black or mixed girl had long hair .... Tyra cut it off and usually sent them home soon after.
My mom swears Tyra was bald and jealous 💀💀💀💀😝

Man the 2000s were a wild and tasteless time

Jay manual want to play the victim now but wasn’t uncomfortable then. The producers on the show were very messy.

This was "High Fashion" Fear Factor

I’m almost ashamed of myself for not recognizing how problematic and toxic this show was. I mean I was a kid when it first started airing, but so many of these moments (the black face and treating cultures as costumes, the obviously bigoted contestants and participants, forcing the models to pose nude, the unsafe modeling shoots, traumatizing contestants, etc) are obviously not okay.

While we’re acknowledging that Tyra actually is deranged, let’s look back on Tyra’s talk show 😅

What’s worse is that they framed it as “training” for the “real industry”. If you can’t handle this, you’ll never make it in the REAL modeling world, blah blah blah. Yeah, no. In the modeling industry, you have every choice as to what jobs you go to a casting for. If the job is a nude job (RARE in high fashion) and you’re not interested, you simply do not go to that casting. Your agents probably won’t even send you the option to go, since they know your values. That same brand will have a non-nude casting tomorrow. It’s fine, no one cares!

the fact that these men who were assaulting these girls got to stay on set is horrific

I seriously cannot believe Tyra and Jay blamed that poor girl for convulsing when the pool was too cold. And then to go and say "Maybe she's not built for this industry cause she can't handle a little cold water" is crazy. Tyra oughta be ashamed of herself.

ginger: doesn’t want to pose nude.

becky: “ginger only took two pictures, it’s not fair to everyone else. she should get eliminated.”

also becky: cries because she doesn’t want to pose nude.
