So awesome!  My mother was named Margaret and was Dutch, I didn't realise the name was linked to such a strong woman.

She ruled the north of Europe from my hometown MECHELEN(Belgium) . Today you can visit her palace and the church where a part of her is buried.  You can follow her life in the beautifull museum HOF VAN BUSLEYDEN that houses several of the paintings shown here. We also have a huge statue of her looking over the marketplace

I feel very badly for the poor dear. There were many bright spots in her life but, by the time she could relax and enjoy them the universe dropped another bucket of shyte on her. In spite of all, she performed valiantly and accomplished much.  ❤ 🎉

Oh my! What a tragic life and yet she persevered! Then to have her life taken by an overdose of opium. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise, as had they amputated the leg, she would have surely suffered not only pain, but systemic infections also. Thank you for this well- researched and detailed account of her life! I have NEVER known all the facts you provided. History has a way of glossing over lives that where not direct rulers. I look forward to many MORE proper history lessons.😁
