RIP Carl Weathers (January 14, 1948 – February 1, 2024), aged 76
And
RIP Vanity (January 4, 1959 – February 15, 2016), aged 57
You both will be remembered as legends.

How this movie didn’t become a sequel franchise is beyond me. Carl Weathers was such a great action movie actor.

You guys are officially my favorite Reactors, just because you did THIS classic. I will tolerate NO slander of Action Jackson, and the fact that it's NOT streaming is a crime. Hopefully that gets remedied.

The 80s was the golden age of action movies.

Man, Vanity was the hottest thing goin in the  80,s, which is why Prince had to make her his girl. 💯

Been a fan of this movie ever since seeing at a kid on TV back in the day.  Great one liners, plenty of action, and an amazing cast.  RIP Carl Weathers.

"How do you like your ribs?"

RIP Carl Weathers!

Fun Fact: Theatrical directing debut of Craig R. Baxley.

Casting Notes Fact: Predator (1987) cast Bill Duke and Sonny Landham also appear in this film. Tom Wilson and Mary Ellen Trainor both appeared the following year in Back To The Future Part II (1989).

Box Office Success Fact: The studio hoped to turn the film into a franchise, but it never happened. Dangerous Passion (1990), a totally unrelated film which also starred Carl Weathers, was re-titled 'Action Jackson 2' in some countries. Carl Weathers also headlined another action-thriller Hurricane Smith (1992).

Genesis Fact: Carl Weathers came up with the idea for the film on the set of Predator (1987), during conversations with producer Joel Silver about their shared love of 1970s blaxploitation films. The title was born after Weathers spoke to an Australian crew member about the project. To indicate his interest in working on the film, the crew member said: "I'm in like Action Jackson."

Automobile Enthusiast Fact: The sports car at the mansion is a red 1986 or 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT coupé with body effects that make it resemble a Ferrari Testarossa coupé. The color, make and model of Action Jackson's (Carl Weathers) car that gets wrecked, as also stated in dialogue in the movie, is a brown and white 1966 Chevrolet (aka Chevy) Impala convertible. In other shots in the film, one can also see a blue 1981 Chevrolet Impala police sedan and a creme 1974 Chevrolet Impala Custom coupé.

Guys I saw this movie in the theater when I was a kid! RIP Carl Weathers!

“They literally transitioned to ribs!” 😂😂😂😂😂👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

Great underrated 80’s action flick. Good choice guys.

Action Jackson is the first rated R movie that I ever snuck into!  ;-)   Great memories

This film is a 80's action gem, hilarious reactions & a wonderful tribute to the late great Carl Weathers.

Anything with Vanity in it is automatically worth watching.

RIP Carl Weathers
( Apollo Creed )

Finally someone finally reacted to this. I been begging for years

It's like the supporting cast from Lethal Weapon and Die Hard went straight to the Action Jackson set. It's a never ending who's who of 80's bit parters and snd daytime players. It's like a lost Joel Silver drug fueled 80's shoot em' up summer action blockbuster. Carl Weathers said they came up with the whole concept of Action Jackson while BSing on the Predator set in the jungle. He said Shane Black coined the term Action Jackson. Carl told Black that it actually didn't rhyme. Shane said use it as a working title till you think of something better. Weathers laughed saying none of them did.
RIP OG Creed

RIP Carl , a legend that will be missed
