Red light will be alternator not charging or dynamo i guess.

You know you could have used those old carpets as a pattern to make new ones

Lino Ritchie.  "Is it me your looking floor "

Save old carpets as patterns for replacements!

My uncle got married in 1975 and the car he drove was a maroon Hillman Minx. Also, his two friends were at his wedding and each of them had a Minx that was maroon. These cars were everywhere in the 1970s.

Looks like a bargain.  But that was dumb throwing them rubber mats away!  they are extremely rare and looked in good condition.

That old dash is beautiful.

You do realise those original mats are probably worth double the value of the car 🚗 😮😊

Those mats are impossible to find these days.
You should sell the illman to me, I'll restore it and make a whole youtube series, as a thank you 👍😘😘😘

Geoff get that rust off the bonnet and boot lids it is spoiling a great little car .👍👍👍👍

My dad had a Hillman Super Minx - I started driving lessons in it.

My wife had a 206cc and absolutely loved it

The Hillmans were built in Linwood Paisley.  Basically in my back yard.  Thanks for sharing this classic.  Great memories.

We had two minx's when I was kid, a green one and then few years later a red one. Loved them.

It's 45 years since I had mine but IIRC you open the bonnet with a lever that's near the top of the grill in the centre.
The red light is the ignition light but if the battery started the car after you'd driven it home it's probably a wiring issue rather than a dud dynamo.
I'd have been inclined to keep the carpets as patterns and the original trim material for patching.
It doesn't surprise me at all that it drives well. It's a very similar car to a Mk 1 Cortina, and imagine how much one of those would have cost.

Vinyl seats … they’ll be nice in the hot weather 😂

A lot of those illmans around in the 70s when I wasa child, always thought they were the coolest.

My father was late to 4 wheelers his first car was a Ford Prefect van which was followed on from its collapse by a Commer Cob. [Sorry, it was a Hillman Husky] Then a 1962 Singer Gazelle in green with polished walnut and stuff. I did my driving pre-test miles in that car. I loved it. The Hillman Avenger replaced it and I wept.

I like it!!!, I’ve been thinking about buying an old usable classic, something that’s tax and not exempt to use back and forth work which is a couple of miles away, my dog will love it😀 lets use these things guys 👍

I'm 72, and was taken to SCHOOL  in an 'ILLMAN MINX  once. I liked the style then - and I still like it now! "A thing of beauty is a joy forever" as the saying goes. Lovely interior design - so much more friendly than today - and the best colour , too - red! Black dash contrasts well with the red.
Got a nice one. Glad to see someine's restoring it.
