You have met one. Perhaps two in your entire life. Somebody walked into a room and something came in with them — you could not have explained it and you had no language for it, and it was not their personality and it was not what they said. It was on them. And you never forgot it.
And here is the conclusion you drew without ever putting it into words: that some people are simply like that. That it was temperament, or gifting, or something they were born with and you were not. That is what almost everyone concludes, and it is wrong. Every one of them paid for it. Not one was born that way.
In this message we explore the teachings of A.W. Tozer on the cost of carrying the presence of God. The Hebrew word we translate as glory is a word about weight — and when the tabernacle was finished, the sons of Gershon received two wagons and the sons of Merari received four, but unto the sons of Kohath he gave none, because the service belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders. The holiest load in the nation was the one load for which no help was permitted.

Moses came down from the mountain and did not know his own face was shining. Jeremiah said, I sat alone because of thy hand. The early church was magnified by the people and no man dared to join them. Joseph carried it in a prison for thirteen years. And David put the ark on a new cart and a man died, and three months later the Levites carried it on their shoulders and a city filled with joy — same king, same ark, same sincerity.
Nothing replaces the Word of God. Your Bible is your sword. This is the plan you carry into the room with it.
