I was actually at this game, near the back of the seating above the south end zone. I remember how exciting the three returns for TDs were: Fullman's punt return and the interception returns by Mike Minter and Grant Wistrom. Minter's return was especially exciting to me, as he went to the same church I did at the time. One thing that I didn't notice at the time was that the Spartans' head coach back then was some guy named Nick Saban and I had no way of knowing what he would go on to or that this would be his most lopsided defeat as a college head coach...
I always loved reading comments from Nebraska fans. It’s interesting how they always seem to forget their horrifying record against Oklahoma FSU and Miami during the Osborne era. The most overrated coach of all time
I miss Keith Jackson and Madden and Summerall. As a millennial kid I’m happy I was able to catch the tail end of their broadcasting careers. Growing up with them was amazing. I feel sorry for kids who grew up with Buck and Aikmam.
Saban was awful at MSU. Didn't win a bowl. Didn't crack the top 10 until 57 of 59 games there. 0-2 to Osborne. What. 03 to Tiller at Purdue. Who was Tiller? Blah, blah. This game meant absolutely nothing except it gave Neb a real false sense of who they were. ASU 19, Neb 0, the next game.
Keith Jackson is a trip. His commentary is hilarious. "Minter second interception and you can put this one on the scoreboard." When ms backup qb came in the game. "If this kid wanted to play football, he's gonna get his chance today."
I miss the 90s, different styles of offenses, multiple dynasty teams all over the country. The spread offenses aren't nearly as interesting to watch when everyone does them.
