damn, Louis holding that mic like the rapper he is

It hurt my heart to hear Louis talk about Noah (the "little guy" hes referencing) wanting to be friends with Louis. That kid it was obvious in interviews he was doing was trying so hard to mimic his elders when it wasnt actually in his nature. He sadly committed suicide a few years after leaving the church.

“Love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you and pray for those who despitefully use and persecute you.”

Quite nice hearing him have the balls to say how you start to rationalise with this people after a certain amount of time.  Most people are just like “no they’re loons through and through, they’re disgusting people all the time.”  Well how true can that be? They have families and stuff so I don’t imagine they just spend all day in a darkened room brooding over how much they hate gays and soldiers.

By all accounts, they're very intelligent people who're actually quite loving, which I'm sure was helpful, but also makes it all the more heartbreaking knowing that all it takes is one or two ostensibly sociopathic family members and their enablers to maintain such a hive of outward hate and self-righteousnes.

Majority of the cults starts of being respectful and welcoming, until you're part of them and you cross a line.

I think it's lovely that he can see the humanity of those with abhorrent ideas. They are After All Humans just broken humans

It's really comforting to know that Noah has since left the church... Hope he's having a great life

So amusing to hear him grappling with the dichotomy of human beings being able to be both abhorrent and likeable.
The narrative of "good" vs "evil" is peddled with almost religious insistence by both the newsmedia and myriad ideological echo chambers across social media and public discourse.
People are people.  No one is a monster and no one is an angel.  No one is pure evil and no one is pure good.  People do bad things, and also have bad things done to them.  Everyone is a victim in some sense, and so everyone is sympathetic in some sense.  Likewise, the potential to do evil is in each one of us.
I wonder if we focused less on celebrating our differences and more on celebrating what we have in common whether the world would a less polarised place than it is now.

I'm so glad louis didn't go to Iraq in a tank. The Louis Theroux documentaries are legendary! Great stuff

It is funny how Louis said he was not crazy about meeting the Phelps and thought it would not be interesting but in fact it turned out that it was the Westboro documentaries that gave Louis a name in North America.

Thank you Louis for your work, else many things would never be revealed, and mids be opened!

I can hear the 'aw no darling he's going to heeull..' in that deep southern accent 😂

Just browsing the title I was thinking "most hated family in America... the Sacklers?" ... then I read the rest.

The WBC are highly educated people, so strange that they still want to hate like that. When that is said, conservative religious Americans are off their rockers!

I feel we are mostly loving caring creatures ,but we are community group orientated and territorial hence we behave negatively towards other groups. And bond easily in poor company or bad situations . . quirky sad humans. Be kind .

"It's very sad but Louis's going to Hell"...Well then.

Weird sort of people (the WBC) sending them to state education.

Maybe they can stay in touch now that Noah has left the church.

I've always wondered who they work for. I believe a lot of them are attorneys, if I remember correctly. Who would hire people like this?
