In this Grounded Flashback, we listen to Mackie unpack the literary connections between Jonah, Achan, Jericho, and earlier biblical stories. Along the way, we pause to explore why those patterns matter.

Why are the sailors repeatedly described as afraid while Jonah, God’s prophet, acts in rebellion? Why does Achan begin to look like Jericho itself? Why is Rahab, the outsider from the condemned city, rescued while Achan, the covenant insider, comes under judgment?

And what happens when we follow those patterns forward into the New Testament, where Jesus again overturns our assumptions about insiders, outsiders, repentance, and faithfulness?

Grounded exists to help people read carefully, think biblically, and see how the whole story of Scripture connects.
