He wasn't tryin to rewrite his history he was trying to stop other's for ending up the way he and others like myself did. Much love from NW Detroit Rest In Peace Took.
It's too bad Tookie's life went this way. He could've been a very competitive bodybuilder and maybe even a movie star. He definitely had the look of one of those guys from a late 80s early 90s action film.
Personally, I was a one and only white kid in the neighborhood I grew up in, and it is because of his books that pushed me away from gangs. In fact, when I was 13, I bought a shirt that said free Stanley "Tookie" Williams, and because of the people who really knew who he was, they always gave me respect, never asked if I was banging, just said respect because of the good word he was trying to spread. RIP Big Took!!!!!
I remember when Ice-T talked about the first time he met Tookie. T said he was in his house watching tv when his girlfriend came inside from the front porch telling him a guy outside is hitting on her. Ice-T said he got up from the couch and went outside to confront the guy who was hitting on her. T said when he got outside, Tookie was in a lowrider parked on the curb starring him down. Ice-T went right back inside and told his girl "b!tch whachoo doin outside da house?".
I remember when he was executed. I was 11, and the Sacramento Sheriff's Office warned everyone to stay inside their homes because they were expecting gang violence to explode.
