Hey dudes! I hope you enjoy, any mistakes I made will be posted here in the show notes!
8:53 it's not open source. It's just licensed. Sorry. I was probably thinking about Android when I wrote that.
9:35 That's a typo. I'm sure you know what it's supposed to say. Sorry.
13:44 Yeah, I said the wrong name, I know. The Jobs/Cook thing was a verbal error while filming that I noticed and never fixed in the edit. 100% my mistake. The "unconstitutional" thing is also technically wrong. There's nothing in the American constitution on employee poaching or even free enterprise, but the deal proposed by Jobs does go against the basic concepts of capitalism outlined by other American legislation. My mistake again.

I'm an archaeologist woking in the jungle in Yucatan. Back in 1994 I used the Palm to calculate the areas that we where going to excavate. It was a game changer in field research for me. I think I used quite a few of them.

Back in the day my mom and aunts were very techy. You had a cell phone, a Palm Pilot, a digital camera, an MP3 player and portable DVD players, now we have them altogether in a $150 device

I'm 39 and still miss and remember all my different Sprint Palm Treos. Loved each and every one of them

I miss my Palm Pre and Pixi so much... The PalmOS was just a wonderful experience.
Also had a Tungsten long ago

I remember seeing a Palm device in the James Bond movie, Casino Royale thinking, "That was so cool!, I want one!" That movie came out in 2006. Little did we know that the iPhone was just around the corner...

Your channel is a hidden gem and seriously underrated. Your in-depth presentation style reminds me of some early YouTube tech channels, without distractions for sponsors or paid promotions every few minutes.
Rock on, my dude! 🤘

This is a great video. My father got a Palm m130 when he was in the military and didn’t want it, so he gave it to me. I used it for reading, games, keeping up with appointments and for Bible reading (I helped develop some Bible software). I eventually upgraded to the Palm TX and then to the iPod touch after that. I was sad to see Palm decline as I thought they had a chance; I was going to get their Centro phone and liked the pre. In any case, I still miss the simplicity of the Palm.

Ah yes, HP... Where technology legends go to die a miserable death.

Class video. Great production as always. Keep up the good work.

Crazy I apparently already watched your first and 5th video ever made, and your transparent phone video, now this. Love watching channels grow. Subscribed because I used to make stop motion videos in ‘98 on old hi-8 cameras and that’s what sold me. Love the creatives. Cheers 👍

One of the cool features of the Handspring device was that it accepted plugged in modules that could be used to modify it into a camera, cellphone, etc. and offered the possibility of making your own custom module.

Thanks again for the great video!! Keep going for your great job!!!!!!!!

I had a Handspring Visor in orange and bought an HP Touchpad when they were really cheap.

LOVED this video! My dad used to have a Zire 31 he bought for navigation, but back then I didn't really even know what was possible on it. Started collecting Palm OS devices since last year, and I'm blown away by what I missed back in the day. I recently found an app you can use to track your walking routes using a GPS for example, which still works! I'm also fascinated by Sony CLIÉ's designs and their multimedia capabilities.

Had a TouchPad when they were put on fire sale (think I got it for around 230 euros second hand, maybe due to importing… or just scalper tax). Served me well using dual boot!

I own a fully working Handspring Visor. I was shocked when I put batteries in it for the first time in over 20 years and it just worked. I believe my LG TV has WebOS.

I miss Palm.
I still have my first, the US Robotics Palm Pilot Pro, and it served me well until I worked for 3Com, and was gifted a Palm V.
Eventually I replaced the V with Sony Clie which rocked a 320px colour screen. I even dabbled with a T5 and a Centro for a while.
I was looking forward to the Palm Pre, but I was disappointed by the lack of Software support for the WebOS platform, and was shocked that it had no backward compatibility with the huge Palm OS library which may have kept it going until native software support could take over.

Even to this day, my daily device is still thought of a PDA with Telephony/Data.

One of the best aspects of the Sony Clie was that it defined how I use my device to this very day. An App designed for the HiRes screens (HiRes! LOL! 320×320px), mapped the screen out to support App icons and widgets. That is what directed me to Android eventually, was the ability to display widgets, a feature requirement that marked iOS as grossly inferior.

I had a Palm Pixi. Absolutely loved Web OS.

We built Palm Pilots here in Utah. I was there from the beginning. It was a great time and I miss it.

My Palm Centro is my favorite mobile device I've ever owned.  I don't care what anyone says, the calendar on PalmOS is still to this day the best calendar software ever created!
