When I was taught to do cement and concrete repairs (55 years ago) using concrete bonding agent really helps because the existing concrete will suck the moisture out of the new cement before it cures properly.
Covering the repair will also aid in slower curing which makes it stronger.
For others watching this and repairing for the first time, cement of concrete dust inhaled will form hardened cement in your sinuses and lungs. (This is bad ass shit) worse than smoking!

Instead of working during the day then having to worry about hot sun, do it just before dark. It can cure over night without all the heat. Been doing that for years. Even did it with lights and after dark.

The lack of rebar in the driveway tells a story that will continue until you demo that whole driveway and build it correctly

I guarantee the cracks will reappear. I'm a retired brick mason and worked around this stuff all my life. I have a long driveway with small cracks all in it. I cleaned them out with a pressure washer and got a bag of portland cement and my ole tuck pointer. I then put my knee pads on and went to work packing that crack. After 2 years of my wife and me driving over it, the cracks reemerged and weeds still come up through them in the Summer. This however IS a good temporary fix, but keep in mind it has to be redone every year or so.

Maybe you haven't heard of it, but they came out with this product referred to as "concrete glue" about 45-50 years ago.. it's a white glue that gets painted onto the surface you're needing the new concrete to stick to... It does not replace drilling and pinning, but in that corner repair, there would NEVER be enough weight or even sideways pressure to bust the adherence of that patch using regular old bagged concrete... I used it for nearly 40 years, and can take yo to patches done 25 to 30 years old that are still just fine... I was the mason out at Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center from the mid 1980s through 2021 when I retired, and before that I was a concrete guy/carpenter for 9 years. Good vid tho...

A guy I worked for would always buy extra. You can return it, or use it on the next job. Better to have it on hand than to send someone running to get more because you guessed wrong.

I think what happened is the cement went down into the rocks so it took more than what you expected. If you had put a vapor barrier underneath it would have taken less cementall.

Acceptable job, even without an iron mesh.
My father would have add some elongated rocks from a river as bounding elements to diminishing the structural stress when the cement is curing.
The pefect choice would be broken elongated piece of "terracotta" of some kind. After keeping them submerged in water for two-three hours they will slowly release humidity to cement allowing for a long long curing time.
The resulting cemed will seems like steel...
(My father passed away many years ago. I miss him.)

We did our entire driveway with the resurfacing stuff after fixing some spots. Looks like a brand new fresh poured driveway.

I had to do a similar repair on my Dads patio I had to dig out all the concrete . I used my leaft blower to clean out the debris then cut some pikes of rebar. I matched the texture as best I could then repainted the whole patio. It came ok. I like doing these kinds of fixes.
