Neil is one of the few people that really only needs a guitar and himself to hold a huge crowd. Not many can pull it off.

You called it, Neil was known as the “Godfather of Grunge” during the grunge era. Extremely apt.

Also, one of my favorite lyrics ever is in this song. "Doesn't mean that much to me, to mean that much to you"

Fascinating how she compares him to Joni Mitchell! Neil and Joni are like doppelgangers. Born two years apart in Canada, they both suffered from polio as children. They both learned the ukulele as their first instrument. They both moved around quite often as children. They both struggled in school and dropped out, although Joni did eventually return to graduate. They've both had long, distinguished careers. They both are considered among the most influential artists of the last half of the 20th Century. They both experimented with many genres of music, and confounded both fans and critics with their musical directions. They both turned physical limitations to their own advantage in their styles: Joni's hand suffered from polio and affected the way she tuned her guitar, Neil's voice was always noted as nasally, yet he made that his trademark (although on "Without Rings" from his Silver and Gold, there is no trace of the nasal sound whatever - check it out!). They both are very outspoken and deeply philosophical about many issues. They are both private and relatively reclusive in their lifestyles. Thank God I grew up with these two incredible talents in my life!

He’s not American. He’s another proud Canadian, just like Joni Mitchell.

THE GODFATHER OF GRUNGE

"It's like early grunge" is the most accurate sentence.

It took Beth precisely 3 seconds to fall in love with Neil's voice.

Neil was grunge before there was grunge... This man is a true gift to human kind.

Shoutout to the technician who was in charge of the mix for this performance....flawless.

Neil Young is one of those singers that as soon as he starts you know it's him.

It's a lot of fun for those of us who grew up with Neil Young to see a first time reaction. I hope you are still finding the things you seek,

so incredible for people who grew up with this music to find that there are young people who think it was marginal. He is not only a great singer and musician he wrote really amazing songs.

Neil is one of the purist musicians in rock history. He needs almost nothing to make amazing songs. He has written some of the most beautiful songs and has written some of the best lyrics. He's always stood head and shoulders over most others for me.

Neil’s right hand is just a metronome.

"It's like early grunge, isn't it?" Yup. Neil Young, flyin' the flannel for more'n fifty years.

Too often, Neil was criticized for his voice.  It was so nice to hear your reaction and enjoyment instead.  I think he has one of the most emotionally expressive voices among the folk/rockers.  I hope you listen to more of his music.  Thank you.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that Neil also was the Y in CSNY ( Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young )

Imagine being a person and never having heard this song before. Crazy times.

Nobody can imitate Neil Young.  One of a kind.
