Since the PMMA US legality concern keeps coming up, I checked the FDA's pages directly.

It’s not just “frowned upon” but it’s also not fully “illegal”, though for body-contouring it probably would be a good idea to be

The FDA's own words about fillers are "not approved," "recommends against," and "warns against." They state no filler is approved for large-scale body contouring, and they specifically warn against injecting filler into the buttocks, breasts, or "spaces between the muscles". That's different and stronger than "heavily frowned upon," which is how it got described in the episode

The FDA does use the word "illegal," but in its warnings about injectable silicone, a different product that’s not approved for any aesthetic use. If an ai or something told you PMMA is "illegal medical practice," check its cited sources.

Tldr: PMMA the product is FDA approved (sold as Bellafill, indicated for acne scarring and HIV facial lipodystrophy in 0.8ml syringes meant for the face). Large scale body contouring use is not approved and the FDA explicitly warns against it. Whether it's outright illegal may depend on who's injecting and under which state's rules.

Considering that something like 95% of Olympic athletes said they would take a pill that would let them win every contest, but then they die in five years. Then it is no surprise that people would use something like the plastic injections.

Bro there is a lot of guys that still use synthol, and stories of coaches coming back stage with a bag full of pre filled needles of it n doing whole back n lats n such, it’s never been hidden

Well obviously the evidence cannot be released or Natalia's doctor would go to jail. The guy sounded very credible to me. Even Dave Palumbo said that he saw the messages between them and the doctor, Dave's testimony is enough for me. Natalia's quads look like the tire on my old Honda back in my college days when it had a massive bubble on the sidewall before it burst. Why is everyone trying to play clueless on this subject. How about have a responsible conversation on how to prevent athletes in the future from using PMMA, rather than trying to cover up for one person. It's dangerous, nobody Bodybuilder should be using this stuff.

An MRI would also put her physical health on blast. Like the MRI report is confidential, it would reveal personal health information, and that's not cool.

PMMA is used as bone cement for implanting components for total knee replacement and has an associated syndrome called Bone Cement Implantation Syndrome that can cause cardiac arrest…….fun fact

If this is a non-issue in judging criteria, then the only discussion about it should be potential complications and that's it. Sadly, people only want to discuss it due to controversy, not health implications. It won't be news again until someone suffers harm from it.

I'm going to tell you this was an outstanding podcast. I Watched Dave's show about the same topic and it was horrible Dave wouldn't let the man talk they kept interrupting him. And I felt like there was so much more information to be had so I was very glad to see your podcast. Yeah, The whole thing about PMMA & Derek is propaganda. I've got video of him training right before this Olympia & you can see all the fibers in his biceps & they move just like muscle. He has striations in his triceps & the most striated delts in the top 5 in the back double. His quads are striated & his chest was more striated this year than any other year. His body composition is changing for the better more evenly every year but he tends to hold more fat cells in his inner arm & chest area. He has amazing abs but I think he finally figured out before finals how to display them the best. His ab shot looked great at finals.

Natalia put on pounds of muscle, just on her legs between 2024 and 2025. Site specific gains are possible but highly unlikely, she had been training legs hard for years. Gains of pounds for a female olympian are like newbie gains...but again she has been training for years. Did she just discover peds? Highly unlikely. Based on look, and the change in months, I believe she used site specific enhancement.

They offered Natalia her transportation paid, a 2 day vacation, $10,000 if she passes the scan, and they would pay for the MRI. And most importantly they offered to sit in a timeout position and give her a public apology if the MRI came back negative. And guess what? Crickets from Natalia. Natalia Coelho used pmma in her quads, playing this pretend game is no longer effective. Time to call a spade a spade.
