Rockstar's Most Underrated Game | The Warriors Retrospective

MrHammers

In 2005, Rockstar released the Warriors to decent praise. Rockstar is known for their big budget AAA titles so The Warriors fell to the way side and the cult following of it isn't quite as large as games like Manhunt or Bully. Frankly, this game isn't talked about enough and I thought I would share some of my thoughts on it and why I think it's one of Rockstar's best titles and most underrated in this brief little retrospective analysis.

P.S. - My mouse cursor was in like 80% of captured footage, so if you see some weird editing over the clips...that'll be my foolishness.

My uncle Greg Bick was the Creative Director on this title. He was a great guy and the coolest uncle for a young gamer kid to have. Unfortunately he passed away back in 2008. From time to time I like to search for new videos that show love to this game, and I'm never disappointed. Glad to see his work standing the test of time.

I was obsessed with "The Warriors" as a kid . Watched the movie a million times, this game was absolutely my favorite cause it gave you more story behind the movie .

One cool little thing about this game is the Warriors HQ, where you are in between levels, and you can work out, talk to the other members, etc. while there's music coming from the radio and you hear everybody chatting. It really feels alive.
It's kind of like a prototype of the gang camp in RDR2, which is probably my favorite thing in any video game ever.

the most mindblowing detail in this game is the fact that you can punch the hat out of someone and wear it yourself, and every single warrior has a line about doing that, not only that but you can also punch cowboy and steal his hat, which he will comment about, saying stuff like "come on man give it back". if he succesfully gets his hat back he will say: "glad to have you back buddy" or my favorite "maybe i should wear a chin strap"

Haha I remember trying to beat up the flash dude so I wouldn't have to pay, he immediately pulled out a knife and stabbed me 😂😂😂😂

I cannot stress how much I love this game. This is the only game I’ll replay and still feel like I’m playing it for the first time

The warriors is literally the best game I've played really the only problem is the story is too short but all in all the story is so satisfying

This game was a wedding present for my wife and I back in 05. We played the hell outta it. She got frustrated when we had to hit the clown with bricks.

I played the crap out of this game, and its my favorite brawler of all time.
possibly because its not just a brawler but all these other things as well.
But mostly because of the well told story. I got invested in the Warriors. Their fiery young blood, punk culture, and their desperate struggle to get home that one awful night when everyone was out to get them. I saw the movie because of this game and I think the Game told the story better by bleaching out the characters and making the epic moments even more epic.

I want an HD remake of this game or remaster. Just stick to the original script with destroyer and chatterbox story lines with additional content like story missions, upgrades, new gangs like the wizards and more items.

This game is on ps4 for people who don't know and I definitely recommend the fighting is actually fun and hilarious it gets so much better once you unlock all the gangs and maps the modes too

And "The Warriors" novel was based on the Anabasis by Xenophon about a group of mercenary Greek hoplites that have to fight their way out of Persia after the upstart prince they backed is killed .

I remember playing this a fuck ton when I was a child, then my dumbass got the disk scratched and I cried my face out.

Then I purchased it years later on PSN, had just as much fun as my kid self did.
