Figures are starting to drip in regarding Gears of War E-Day and it spells DISASTER for Coalition Studios. With over a $400 Million budget the game has failed miserably to find a footing with Gamepass crippling direct sales of the game leading to terrible week one revenue. Coalition Studios are in series trouble of mass layoffs and even potential closure ala Halo Studios.

400 million is wild. It has to sell 6-8 million copies just to break even, or 500,000 to 667,000 copies a month. Not happening.

Why do these devs think you need a massive budget to make a blockbuster game? Look at Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Budget of 10 million, sold 8 million copies, won GOTY, and made over 400 million.

The Coalition should rename themselves The Transition, both because of the content of their games, and because they're not going to be employed much longer.
