You're the first person to talk about where your weight is shifted. Thank you! It's always the first question I ask whenever I'm trying to get better at a technique and I generally get vague "on your edges" type of answers. This helps a ton.

Man, your videos and advice are golden! I played street hockey religiously on roller blades growing up and made the transition to the ice about 3 years ago. I’m 44 now, so not a young kid. You break each move down in a way I can actually put to action. Literally going to work on this tonight. Keep the great content coming!!

I like how new specific techniques is being identified for today's faster games. Just like how Crosby started popularizing the Mohawk before it became common today.
I used to attend powerskating camps when I was in BC and during those times there was more emphasis in tight turns. But the problem with tight turns was that it compromised speed and is more tiring.

This glide turn doesnt seem to lose alot of speed, is less tiring & can cover more space.

I wanted to follow up and say Thank you I applied your techniques and suggestions, and they worked very well! After just two days, I noticed significant improvement. Placing my weight on my heel made it easier to lean to the side. I will continue practicing!

man, I have watches so many professional player, explaining how to do glide turn, I re-watching them again and again, and no luck on ice, BUT your's "LEAN BACK" - my first successful perfect glide turn in my life started from your "LEAN BACK" thanks!!!!! finally I can do any turns I WANT and start my power skating training by my self, glide turn "lean back" - end with cross over, repeat.

Thank you for the video. I'm a hockey dad who never played hockey, and your videos really help me explain the fundamentals to my 6-year-old son correctly.

Hi. I really appreciate what you are doing. I saw this and was able to do it today.  You are giving people actionable advice, and you teach it in a way that is very approachable and understandable.  I look forward to your videos because I know I will most likely be able to do it and use it. In my view you are the only person on the internet doing it is such an easy-to-understand way.  Please keep it up. It made my whole day today and I think it will in my next game and many more to come. Thank you. Please keep them coming.

Thanks Coach.

winter just came and as a free rink skater this is my 3rd year in a row trying to learn this skill and it's so so difficult

I was able to do a good gliding left hand turn, but my right hander was really weak. Friday it finally clicked! Now I'm  starting to become Consciously competent, can't wait to become unconscious competent so I free up more brain power for other stuff.

Seriously thank you

I like the cue about not leaning forward but rather towards the center of the turn.   If I could add to that -  based on watching you (and pretty sure you said this in another video) -   you are not so much "leaning" , like with a tall straight body, but rather  you are shifting your center of mass (aka: hips) toward the center of the turn.
Hips don't lie!!
Thanks

hey man thanks so much for this

I think another underrated cue is how that inside foot gets picked up and then set down. Initially it points slightly in the opposite direction of the way you want to turn (! unintuitive logically, but feels very natural) , but doing so helps to establish the edge (without cranking your ankle weirdly like some people suggest).

Thank you for this lesson, Coach! I would like to write a few words on a slightly different topic than most commenters. English is not my native language, but you speak slowly and clearly, thanks to which almost all of your speech was understandable to me without the need for translation. In fact, it may be a small thing, but I am sure that your videos are also watched by non-English speaking viewers and for them it may be an important matter. I'm looking forward to your next video! 🙂

Thanks for this. How is the weight split between your feet in the turn? 50/50?

I know you said out weight in heels. But as far as weight per leg. Is it evenly distributed. Or is more weight in front leg or back leg?

I can do this very easily on my right side, but struggling on my left turn

Thanks for this! Really enjoy your content and coaching style.👍

Thank you very much for all tips. Do you expect a video about hockey Stop ( where to put the weight ?)
Thanks in advance
