The Tagham Festival is a beautiful Wakhi tradition that celebrates the arrival of spring. This centuries-old cultural festival has been observed across Central Asia wherever Wakhi Tajik communities live. It reflects unity, gratitude, and hope for a prosperous year ahead.

In Upper Hunza Gojal, the festival is traditionally observed in the first week of March, marking the beginning of the new agricultural season. The Shogun clan performs the symbolic start of the ploughing for the upcoming crops, a meaningful ritual that represents the beginning of farming activities for the year.

On this special occasion, villagers gather together to pray for a successful harvest and prosperity for the community. A traditional dish called Samn is prepared and shared among everyone, strengthening the spirit of togetherness and celebration.
