The Habsburgs just couldn’t resist turning the branches of their family tree into a wreath 😢

Thank you.  I don't  believe she had a choice. The girls had no say in anything.

To say that Anne of Austria’s marriage started a precedent is not entirely correct. It was the first uncle-niece marriage for Habsburgs, but it wasn’t at all in Iberia. Plenty of marriages during Reconquista involved very close unions. Bastards of royals married back into main royal lines barely separated by one generation. Isabel of Portugal (mother of Isabel I of Castile) was product of uncle-niece marriage. First Iberian marriages of Habsburgs were all double first cousins. Maria Anna of Bavaria married her uncle Charles II, Archduke of Austria (this happened within a year from Anna of Austria’s marriage) and then insisted that her niece with the same name married her own son.

The House of Habsburg: keeping it in the family since 1273

Again, I am absolutely loving your focus on Habsburg consorts lately. I see the wonderful portraits of these women so much in my art books but I know so little about them. Thank you for telling us more of their lives behind the pictures. <3

Yeah, sure, blame the barely teenage girl who had no say, not the men who were in charge of the decisions and held the power..

Looking at the pictures that were shown, that chin was already present in the family way before that little girl was even conceived. You can't blame that on her.😮

It's crazy to think that if maybe one or two of them didn't marry their family it probably wouldn't have been as bad! I'm just surprised it took them so long to figure out that this may be a bad idea!

What is that misogynist, clickbaity title supposed to mean? They all married each other for generations which neans they thoroughly cursed themselves as a dynasty.

The care and efforts you put into your videos, is very appreciated and awesome FLives. Thank you :)

You have to feel for these young women. Forced into marriage.

Amazing narration! The fall of a royal line has never sounded so poetic.

Well done.  The plot of Giuseppe Verdi’s great opera, “Don Carlos.”  👑

Thanks, I enjoyed that. The Habsburg's really had it all, but their focus on intermarriage worked against them in the end.

At least she had a happy marriage.

I don’t blame her, who would want to live a life like that.

Thank you again for the beautiful illustrations.

The storytelling is as usual captivating charming and intriguing.

Bravo once again young man! Bravo!

I'd love to see a video on Joanna daughter of Ferdinand I HRE, she was the youngest of 13, had severe scoliosis, married a Medici, (seemingly) got pushed down the stairs while pregnant with her 8th child and died. She's so tragic and interesting.
I love the Habsburgs, they're so insane and sad and fascinating

Our dose of history ❤

Forgotten Lives,  thank you for the upload. 🙏🏻 It's a pleasure learning about someone from the past. I'm never disappointed with your videos. 💯
