In almost two decades, Smart Fit went from a low-cost gym concept to becoming the largest gym chain in Brazil.

Today, the Smart Fit Group is present in 16 countries, with more than 2,000 units and 5.2 million clients, and is already one of the largest fitness companies in Latin America.

But how did a chemical engineer transform the concept of gyms in Brazil?

Behind this network is the trajectory of a chemical engineer who worked in different sectors, from chemistry and fashion to retail, before looking at the gym market and deciding to change the concept.

From the creation of Bio Ritmo in 1996 to Smart Fit in 2008, came the focus on low cost, expansion into other countries, and the challenges of scaling up without losing quality and culture.

After all, how did an engineer transform the concept of the gym in Brazil? What was the riskiest bet in building the group?

And which fitness industry trends will last, and which are fleeting?

To answer these and more questions, we invited Edgard Corona, founder and executive chairman of the Smart Fit Group, for episode 319 of the Os Sócios podcast.

We will talk about the franchise model, the growth of TotalPass and corporate partnerships, the impact of the pandemic, artificial intelligence and data in management and student retention, well-being, leadership, and much more.

It will be broadcast this Thursday (October 8th) at 12 pm on the Os Sócios Podcast channel.
