In this video, I go for a walk and reflect on a strange and difficult chapter in my life.

At sixty, I am preparing to leave England and move to Spain after struggling to find somewhere affordable to live. As I try to make sense of this, I find myself thinking about old stories and ideas: Hansel and Gretel, the forest, leaving home, and what it means to live in the uncertain middle stage between one life and another.

I also talk about different ways of understanding change and transformation, including the ideas of Joseph Campbell, Carl Jung and Richard Rohr.
