David Jay Brown saw a giant praying mantis after taking DMT. According to his account, the creature pinned him to the ground and began operating on his brain. Why do similar figures also appear in alien abduction stories?
In this episode, I examine the mantis-like creatures described after taking DMT and other psychedelics, as well as in accounts of meditation and sleep paralysis. Are they surgeons, teachers, or overseers? What—according to the people who tell about them—do they do to our bodies, memories, and consciousness?
You'll learn the stories of David Jay Brown, Linda Porter, and Nadine Lalich, as well as the accounts and hypotheses of Terence and Dennis McKenna. I compare stories of alien encounters with studies of DMT experiences. Are these creatures a product of the brain, an unknown part of ourselves, or something more?
Let me know in the comments: which explanation is most convincing to you—and why?
