In this documentary, we explore the life and disappearance of Mary Jacqueline Broadway Levitz, the cotton farmer's daughter from Oak Grove, Louisiana who taught herself to renovate Washington row houses, married into the Levitz furniture fortune in 1976, inherited roughly $20 million when her husband Ralph died in 1990, and vanished from her newly renovated Mississippi River mansion on November 18, 1995, leaving behind a blood-soaked bedroom, $700,000 in untouched fur and jewelry, and no body.

Born in 1933 as one of nine children in the rural Mississippi Delta, Jacqueline left Oak Grove for Beaumont, Texas, then Washington D.C., where she taught herself to buy, gut, and restage row houses with theatrical finish through the 1960s and 1970s.

She married Ralph Levitz, co-founder of the Levitz Furniture warehouse chain, in 1976. When he died in 1990, she inherited an estate worth approximately $20 million.

In 1995 she bought a mansion overlooking the Mississippi in Vicksburg and was finishing a six-month renovation when she disappeared. A neighbor saw her enter the house at 4 p.m. on November 18. Two days later her brother-in-law found the front door ajar, the cream Jaguar unlocked in the driveway, the king-sized mattress flipped to conceal a pool of blood, and the broken tips of her acrylic fingernails scattered across the bedroom floor.

Two fur coats worth $200,000 hung undisturbed. A safe containing $500,000 in jewelry sat unopened. Only her purse and makeup bag were missing.

Her credit cards, bank accounts, and Social Security number have been dormant ever since. No body has ever been found. No arrest has ever been made. The case is still open in Warren County, Mississippi.
