The opening shot looked like it was caddy corner to 482 14th Street between 8th Avenue and Prospect Park West. My immigrant grandparents owned that place for about 50 years. I went back in 2023 for the first time in thirteen years only to get a reality check about life and NYC at large - time marched on and the vestiges of the world my mom grew up in from the 60s to through the end of the century are mostly gone. I had some epic years there living full time between 2004 and 2010 - prior to that it was a summer and Xmas break deal each year growing up between the 80s and 90s. The years in my twenties I lived in the Slope were unique in the sense that the Craigslist culture was thriving but the digital takeover was still not too overbearing. Barbes on 9th Street was a sweet spot to catch Stephen Wrembel play gypsy jazz swing on Sundays. Occasionally I would find my way to Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg and eat Sea with a friend of mine. I used to bike from the Slope down to the Promenade - truly epic journey. New York always reinvents itself and the waves of ethnic groups, trends and outrage come and go. New York in the 80s and 90s was a masterpiece for the middle-class. Trippy side note - the movie Awakenings with De Niro and Robin Williams opens up on 14th Street a few doors down from my family's house. Oddly enough Williams character in that film has my mom's married surname and one of the doctors in the film has my surname. I used to call it "Spark Slope" as per my cannabis habit jj Too bad I had to go and grow old.

Standing on the roadway leading into Prospect Park, with your back against a lamppost on the grassy median, you can see the tower of the Empire State Building precisely enclosed within and its tip just touching the keystone of the Civil War memorial arch. Good planning. #brooklynmirador

Your videos and channel are excellent. We were just in NY a few months ago and stayed in Queens, but went to BK, Midtown Manhattan and it is an incredible city!

By any chance will you visit Ottawa which in my opinion is very underrated when I visited there a few years ago

Well produced video of a once beautiful neighborhood in a once beautiful city that has sadly become ugly, unwelcoming and conquered by traitorous politicians and brainwashed people with no survival instinct left in their bodies. But thanks for the memories of this once great neighborhood
