Every corner of the internet has that one folder of images nobody admits to having: a grinning dog, an endless yellow room, a woman with a mannequin's face. Each one comes with a story stapled to it: a curse, a lost episode, a murder, a monster.

Here's the twist: the photos are almost always real. It's the stories that aren't.

In this video we take 12 of the most reposted "cursed" images on the internet and trace every one back to what it actually shows. Some took internet sleuths over a decade to crack. A couple were only solved in the last two years. And the answers are stranger, and often sadder, than the legends.

🔎 WHAT'S INSIDE
The Backrooms: the endless yellow room turned out to be a real place, photographed during a hobby shop renovation in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and tracked down in 2024 by a Discord community using the Wayback Machine.
The Expressionless: the "hospital killer" photo is a 1968 picture of student nurses with a wax training mannequin, published in Lord Snowdon's 1972 book Assignments.
The McGrady Tape: the face under the bathroom stall is a still from a 2016 YouTube prank video.
SCP-106: the image behind the Old Man was an oil painting by Christopher Goodman, made while he was a student at the University of Brighton, identified in 2026.
Plus Smile Dog, Jeff the Killer, the Teletubbies hospital photo, Squidward Community College, Red Mist, the Cooper family photo, the black-robed ritual and the stairs in the woods.
