GT bikes were my fav's in the 1980s. A lot of kids wanted the GT handle bars.

My mom managed the Huffy plant in Oklahoma. She would bring boxes of frames, and parts. Frames, mag rims, the laid back seats, the mushroom handle bar grips.
My brother, and sister would put random parts on frames, and give away bikes to EVERY kid in our small town. One day a family moved to town. Their sons stole 2 bikes from our backyard. Every kid knew where they stashed the bikes. So my mom and stepdad went to talk to the parents. My mom explained they didn't have to steal the bikes. If they had just introduced themselves. She would of had us build them bikes. No cops were called. And we let them keep the bikes. (I too was a military brat.)
