In mid-Joseon Korea, Chae-yoon — daughter-in-law of a once-wealthy family — is left to fend for herself after her husband's gambling debts destroy everything they own. A cryptic remark from a stranger she once saved leads her to buy an abandoned, waterlogged rice paddy that no one else wants. Teaming up with a father and son shunned for their lowly status as butchers, she begins to turn the worthless land into something extraordinary — until a greedy local official sets his sights on stealing it all. Will Chae-yoon manage to save her family and the people who trusted her?
