I'm a true Brit, and I've spent the last 50 years trying to forget Red Barrel.

In 1976 I joined the Army at 16 years old, my Father was off work, I can't recall why, maybe just a few days holiday, went in to collect his wages and invited me to join him, I went with him. We went to a pub when he'd done , The Prince Arthur on Sticker Lane in Bradford, the kind of pub that anything that fell off the back of a lorry tended to end up in, we sat at the bar. The landlord came over and asked me if I was old enough, ( I looked about 13 at the time,) Dad said I was joining the Army the following Monday and the landlord just nodded and asked me what I wanted, the only thing on the bar I recognised was Double Diamond so I asked for it. He returned a few minutes later, put it in front of me and quietly said " On the house son, good luck"
   That's the story of my first pint and I'll never forget it, cheers Dad

First trip to the UK, someone suggested I try Old Peculiar. I quite liked it and I think that surprised everyone.

I'm from Sheffield, now in Houston. We drank Stones and Tennants. Every time I see Onslow's wife Daisy crack him a pint of Stones I get nostalgic for home....

I am the proud owner of a large beermat collection that was acquired entirely by drinking my way through their products.   :o)

King and Barnes was brewed in Horsham and is alive and well as Old Ale, brewed by Firebird Brewery (run by Bill King) down the road in Rudgwick. It's delicious!

Double diamond works wonders so drink some today i remember the advert very well miss those days 😊

I vividly remember Whitbread & Watney’s from my three years in Essex while serving in the US Air Force at Wethersfield. The Dog Inn was a Whitbread pub. Great memories.
