We had a neighbor growing up whose mom was South African. She had two kids. They were born in America. So for a while the family moved to South Africa, came back and both her kids lost their American accents. They had a South African accent. It was amazing. I’ve been fascinated with accents ever since.

Love this post. My mother was Norwegian/U.S and my father British. They met and married and conceived me in Tibet. I ended up being born in India where I grew up. I did my university in Hong Kong where I was the only "white" person in my class; all the rest were Chinese. When I graduated I wanted to stay in Kong Kong where I had a job and accommodation lined up. My father said "NO" and sent to the U.S to graduate school and that's where my problems began. It wasn't just cultural shock; it was language. Different words meant and were pronounced differently. Well, I have lived and worked in the U.S long enough that it is no longer an issue for me. However, when people ask how many languages I speak, I say only two fluently. English and American. I have also lived and worked back in Britain. Now, whenever I speak, I pause to make sure that I am using the right word for the country that I am in. Mr. Noah do you ever find yourself doing that???

Trevor Noah,is one of the MOST Intelligent, Versatile Comedians I have ever seen.
He speaks many languages, he's so observant and perceptive,even learning the small nuances of language and Cultures.
He's totally Remarkable.

As i was taught english as my secind language in an ENGLISH ONLY PRIVATE SCHOOL IN St. Petersburg Russia..

We had teachers from ALL OVER WHOM SPEAK ENGLISH I WAS TAUGHT ALL DIALACTS BUT AMERICAN!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂..

Had to forget all and relearn it there fluently there and forget all calculations 😂😂😂😂
