The BS is sure deep on this post. When they pump an engine it's usually at least 3 complete cycles or more and the cig filter could get hung in the adapter  or in the exhaust valve and you would be in deep trouble. The restricted plate is held and measured by the official so forget the cardboard.

A 358 cubic inch limit means that the Mopar and AMC 360 couldn’t compete without high dollar engines, while Chevy and Ford could make that limit easily.  That didn’t matter in later years when they were no longer using factory engines, but it hurt a lot of racers back when.

The push rods are removed for the tested cylinder. The SCTA has used this same method for years. I personally pumped over 100 engine of different cubic inch displacement after records were broken and engine size needed to be verified. I suppose this is possible but would like to see better proof. A “cheater” engine may have had 2-3 cubic inches added over the total 358 which is negligible.

The measuring instrument that checks the displacement only checks one cylinder. The other seven cylinders were appreciably larger many many times over the years. That you also sprayed nitrous into the air cleaner from a a piece of tubing that was part of the chassis in the front and sprayed into the air cleaner. This is only when it was needed for a pass or whatever.

I have applied pressure to a cylinder and it drove the piston down to bottom dead center which on a four stroke engine has at least one valve open.  In overlap both In & Ex valves are open, or at least the In @ the beginning of the compression stroke.  So, how would this test be possible to perform?  Or am I totally missing something here?

Robert Yates use to taper his cylinders bore’s. He ran that a long time. You couldn’t find it unless you took the engine completely apart & measure the whole bores size. I wouldn’t say anything but I seen Robert talking about that in media himself. Everybody else still cheating you got to pull some tricks yourself or you will be running in the back all day long or loading car up in the hauler & go back home with didn’t qualified for the race embarrassment.

Slotted plug is bs and so is the cardboard restrictor plate. The restrictor plates were handed out by NASCAR and installed on the manifold by the inspectors .
