A noisy tappet is a happy tappet on lock nut and screw tappets

Having had quite a few Italian cars I know that you need to use them, they don't like sitting around not being used, also they don't like being fiddled with ..leave it alone just service them and use them.
I have a V85 and it's quite simply the best bike I've owned as in ..the most satisfying..the pure enjoyment, a love affair. Other bikers don't know what they're missing. Such a planted solid  machine that rewards you the more input you put in..they are the true genuine original retro classic.

Nice quiet tappets are lovely and tight. This is usually caused be Valve seat wear as the Valves are pounding the valve seats, if too tight the valves will not seal and will BURN, results Head Job.
The oil in the shaft is under MASSIVE Loads, every time you launch the bike of do a slick gear change the oil is been squeezed out from in between the gears under great loads. Keep it nice and fresh, give it a fighting chance. Moto Guzzi DESERVES love and attention

This reminded me of a 'Two Ronnies' sketch down the allotment ! 😅👍

Best video you’ve ever put out

Valves or tappets are called tappets as they should tap. No noise means they are too tight, an easy and simple job on a Guzzi.

More please

Cracking chat.. love the Guzzis 💪😎

Morning lads I think I’m right, but the Guzzi motor was lifted originally from a light tank ( military ) 🤣 know you know what it’s like following Chris when he is on one with a twisty rout programmed into Cali moto Paul quick isn’t he, mayenne has 2 like yours Paul second hand €7450 each 😬 I would pick a Guzzi over a GS all day long, looks like a cracking trip guys, ….. Pete 🇫🇷

Look after the bike (servicing) and it will look after you?
I can't go with no the maintenance idea
It will get you in the end -

I think the hardest part of owning a Guzzi is deciding whether or not you want to be an outspoken spokesperson and educate the masses on how brilliant they are, or if you want to remain a steward of the best kept secrets in motorcycling.

I have a V7 stone and a VStrom 650 and they both tour very well both on pavement and on gravel. It’s a real toss up which one to take, normally the only thing that has me reaching for the Suzuki is bad weather as it has the right fairings and heated elements to tackle that.

One of these days I’d like to replace that VStrom with a V85TT but it’s also a great bike that makes a good case to be kept on.

Great video

Great chat about Guzzi’s
My experience, of the one I had , 1987 Le Mans 1000, is good.
I put jota bars on it and some good quality rearsets. I toured all over France and it was completely reliable and comfortable. Great bike.

I've got a 2011 V7 racer so understand  everything you say  , wouldn't swap it for anything.

If you drained the oil from the shaft and transmission and put a bright light on the oil you will see the metalic sparkles and then you will understand that you need to dump the oil occasionally. you can put the oil through a coffee filter and reuse it a couple of times if your cheap like me.

I've just bought a new V85TT Travel, just waiting for delivery. Had about an hours test run on one, absolutely loved it.

Love those clocks on the V85TT. If there was no RE Classic 500 and Interceptor, I'd be seriously looking at Moto Guzzi, with their air cooled purity and great looks. Shaft drive too! Great choice Paul for considering Interceptor suspension for your Guzzi. Very underrated, plush and cheap to buy too because so many people remove them from their bikes. Maybe due to influencers and the fashion for believing them to be poor, when they aren't, in my opinion. Easiest bike to service? The Classic 500. Hydraulic tappets and air cooled, so no coolant to worry about. Put in an Iridium spark plug and you wont have to worry about that for a couple of decades either.

Hi, thanks for the chat! I have a V7 Special which is under warranty, which is just as well.....
It is back in the local Guzzi specialist for the third time with a persistent oil leak. They have already replaced the engine crank seal. I can see I've just been very unlucky as they are reknown for being bullet proof. However I think a V85 Strada is on the cards for me very soon so it hasn't put me off! How is the V85 or V85tt suspension with a pillion (One of the main reasons for a change)?

Morning Paul, I must have been really unlucky with my V7 850 Special, that had electrical problems when she got wet but I did really enjoy that bike when the sun was out 👍

I took a v85tt for a test ride. Felt like riding a tractor or something,  in a good way. Have been keeping my eye on the second hand market, lovely bike
