Some fans of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings films never got around to reading John Tolkien's books, thus missing an important detail. The film trilogy—The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King—is based on the epic history of humans, and Aragorn is the protagonist. In this case, the opening scenes in the Shire are little more than an atmospheric and pleasant introduction. This feature has been noted by both the director himself and scholars of Middle-earth. The book saga, however, focuses more on the world of the Hobbits, on Hobbits in global history, and, most importantly, tells the story through the eyes of the Halflings. This means the history of the halflings holds a wealth of interesting facts, which we decided to share with you today! So, as the saying goes, there's more to the Hobbit than just the Hobbit, and we're off to explore The Lord of the Rings through Hobbiton!
