"The Six Napoleons" is a Sherlock Holmes short story by Arthur Conan Doyle. The plot revolves around a series of seemingly senseless burglaries where the only items stolen are plaster busts of Napoleon Bonaparte, which are then immediately smashed.

Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard initially dismisses these incidents as the work of a lunatic with an irrational hatred for Napoleon. However, Sherlock Holmes sees a deeper, more sinister pattern. His interest is piqued when one of these break-ins is accompanied by a brutal murder.

Holmes' investigation reveals that all the broken busts came from the same batch of six identical statues manufactured by a specific company. He deduces that the thief isn't interested in the busts themselves, but rather in something hidden inside one of them.
