We are learning more this Sunday as Christa Pike has not regained consciousness in the four days since her failed execution in Tennessee according to one of her attorneys. The update comes a day after the state’s prison chief announced his resignation as investigators try to determine what led to the "deeply disturbing" attempt at carrying out Pike’s death sentence. LiveNOW’s Shawna Khalafi is speaking with forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden to understand how Pike remains alive after being administered a lethal injection.

Pike was 18 years old when she and her boyfriend tortured and killed a classmate, Colleen Slemmer, in a jealous rage in 1995. Before her failed execution Wednesday, she was set to be the first woman executed in Tennessee in 200 years.

People are removed from ventilators every day... if there's a problem in removing a convicted murderer, who tortured her victim sentenced to death, from a ventilator, then there should be a massive outcry for every innocent person who's removed from ventilators every single day around our country.

First they tried to kill her
Now they are fighting to keep her alive....?????

I am so dumbfounded! They're fighting to keep somebody alive that they were trying to kill! Tell me what kind of sense that makes! 🤔🤷‍♂️

Let’s not forget the teenager she brutally killed and boasted about killing and keeping part of her skull as a prize didnt just peacefully go to sleep and die! There was lots of pain and suffering.
So there’s that

@King_Emris 11 hours ago

Ok, so take her off the ventilator. Problem solved.

@Anyoltm 10 hours ago

Let’s remember she wouldn’t have been there at all if she hadn’t murdered someone in cold blood.

@tinahaas 11 hours ago

She never hurt like Collen . Collen didn't even have a chance to make it to hospital for help.

The crazy thing is we will also never know what the suffering was of the young girl she tortured on purpose then murdered. I know we don't do that back to criminals but it's also true we seem to forget that she is in this situation because she willfully tortured someone.

No one will ever know what level of physical, mental, emotional, psychological and other forms of cruelty, torment and torture She inflicted on the woman she tortured and Slaughtered

Justice must be followed. Her victim is whom was tortured and killed. This murder must be held to justice even if there was a mistake. There is no reason not to complete her sentence as was given.

on a ventilator? so turn it off already, wtf?

@ProxyAuthenticationRequired 10 hours ago

Unless the goal was to torture her, nothing about this makes sense—from the massive incompetence in attempting to execute her to then keeping her alive on a ventilator and suffering.

@The8Don 10 hours ago

Bruh. Just turn the ventilator off and she'll get her death pentalty. Wtf is wrong with bureaucrats.

Meanwhile, Colleen remains murdered.

This might be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard of. Why is life support being used in an execution situation? Death is supposed to be the outcome.

@gNOpGniP 11 hours ago

WHY IS SOMEONE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO DIE GETTING LIFE SUPPORT?!?!?!?!

@seebunlim 10 hours ago

“She just wouldn’t die”- Christa Pike said about her victim.

@brightsun5479 11 hours ago

Who cares what mental torture she went through, is everybody forgetting about her victim?

@Hungaryover 11 hours ago

Firing squad is the most humane option. She could have been dead before she hit the ground

@gladyslopez1922 9 hours ago

They're worried about what kind of torture she endured? Are they serious?! Why should it even matter? Have they ever stopped and thought about the torture Colleen endured in the hands of this monster?
