The BEST explanation I’ve heard so far, and I have heard so many YouTubers explain the whens and how to feed starters! SO, THANK YOU! 😉

Thank you, Amy! I made my own starter around the first of the year, and it is doing great, and I have been baking, like crazy! I keep my starter next to a scented, wax melting, device, and it does amazing, there. I know exactly when it will peak, and when to feed it. I suppose that I have been lucky, as I have had no problems, with my dough rising, or anything, like that! I must say, that I was kind of nervous, at first, but no longer. I love to watch my starter bubble, and move. It still amazes me, that someone figured out, how to make bread, with just flour, water, and salt! Right?

Thank you for explaining what it actually means in better detail.

Important tip, remove jar from scale when mixing or else the pressure can ruin the calibration of the scale. Only use the scale for weighing ingredients.

Great info, Amy! FYI: 50 g of water is equal to 50 mL of water (milliliters). The density of water is 1 gram per milliliter.

Thank you. I watched the whole thing and you answered a lot of little questions that I had from watching other videos. Great job.

I want to thank you for your advise. Out of ALL the sourdough starter videos I've watch, you have been the only person to help me realize what I was doing wrong with my sourdough starter.. turns out I was feeding it like it wasn't established - so it wasn't doing anything.. The minute I changed the feeding ratio (because I have an established starter) my starter began to flourish... So, thank you for that.. I'm sure I'm not the only one needing to TROUBLESHOOT their sourdough starter lol.
And yes, I commented on this video 2 days ago, and I'm already seeing results. YAY!!!

Great video, Amy! I was searching for an instructional video for a friend who is wanting to start making sourdough breads and yours popped up. It’s very thorough. Thanks!

Thank you so much for the easy to understand tutorial. It really helps to see each step. (Things like, how muxh to tighten the lid, for example). The most helpful video I've seen. 👍

Thank you! I will check out your discard recipes. I did t realize I could accumulate all my discard and keep it in the fridge for future recipes! So cool

Great tips asked love that your jar leaked... that's real life

@jenniferolson3914 2 months ago

Thank you for the tips! Do you cover your discard bowl in the fridge? And if you do a 1:10:10 ratio and stick your fed starter in the fridge, how much would that delay the time that it's ready? 20-24 hours? Or would it just not ferment? I'm wondering if a morning feed can create a fermented starter for using the following morning.
