What's your favorite Trial In The Series?!

2:17 You need to understand that it's meant to confuse Japanese players, whom are the target demographic, as they use Kanji letters instead of the ones that we do in the west. Thus, a twist like this isn't obvious for them. They get to decipher the message throughout the trial, alongside the characters, whom are also Japanese...

54:34 I personally dislike how people tend to simplify this case as simply Kokichi tricked Gonta into killing Mui, as that just removes Gontas agency in the situation. The english dub doesnt help with the narrative by making him talk in Tarzan speech, but Gonta is not an idiot. He was the one who figured out the ropeway in Trial 2 and he was the one who came up with the idea to repel down the mansion using the binoculars during his murder. When Kokichi showed Gonta the secret of the outside world, he genuinely believed that the right thing to was to let everyone die in ignorance that all of the death and suffering was ultimately for nothing. Alter Ego Gonta admitted as much at the end of Trial 4, that this was the only way he felt he could help everyone. I feel like simplifying this is such a black and white way of saying Kokichi made him do it is taking away a strength in this case. That despite emotions saying otherwise, the kindest and gentlest people can still be driven to murder in the killing game. Kokichi is still and asshole for throwing Gonta under the bus at the slightest bit of pressure on him, but to say that Kokichi made Gonta kill Mui or saying he manipulated him into doing it, I dont agree

Man, the quality of this is unbelievable. Editing, writing, the works.
The clip show scored with Shuichi's speech about fiction really gets me

My favourite part of the V3-6 trial, is that (at least for the English VAs) the voice actors didn't know the twist when entering the booth. So Tsumugi's va, especially, has a slightly different tone to her voice because she was just as surprised as everyone else

2:00 I will say for trial 1-1, a thing to keep in mind is that these games takes place in Japan, are made in Japan, and are written in Japanese first before being localized. So Sayaka wrote Leon’s name in English and these kids don’t really speak English, so it would be a bit harder for them to figure it out. This comes up again in 2-4 with the whole octagon thing, because Nagito says octagon in english in the Japanese dubbing, so that’s another translation issue. That’s all, I really like the video

I came here to watch all the danganronpa trials be put into a tier list, not be crying at midnight over such a masterclass of a love letter to writing, hope, despair, and the series as a whole. This was a great video. Thanks for making it.

Wow, that ending.  Tears in my eyes, I wasn’t expecting this to hit so hard.  Excellent vid!  Congrats on finishing the script - your dad would be proud of you.

We had to survive on fangames for sooo long till another main games entry. We are so close to another banger : D

13:06 narratively, the fifth class trial of thh is one of the most interesting cases in the whole series. It does things that never happen again, and also begins the twist for the sixth trial. There's no true victim OR killer and it is the only trial to date that has two different outcomes (although the bad ending is just a vision) and two separate executions. They also use Junko's desperation to get rid of Kyoko as a way to communicate that there is a real person controlling monokuma, and not him having an AI or autonomous control. It makes the whole situation feel more human, since anyone that is close to getting caught would do everything in their power to eliminate the threats around them.

I genuinely have no clue if I don't regret watching this because it's an excellent video, or if i DO regret watching this since it's one hour before bedtime...

I did NOT expect this video to be nearly as peak as it was (I expected it to be good but not THIS good), thank you so much for making it. Genuinely. <3

damn, i never expected a silly danganronpa rankings video to make me THIS emotional... i feel like i have an entirely new appreciation for 3-6 now, even as someone who didn't really mind the twist as much as some others seem to.

great video, and congrats on finishing your script :) maybe i'll find the energy to keep writing, too

bugfishhh made a video about dangonronpa (y’all should check it out) but they made it a point to describe Leon’s trail without bringing up 11037 just to prove you could solve the case without it. She then says that it only exist to make the audience forgive Sayaka and honestly she isn’t wrong

Wow... I did not expect the ending to hit so hard when I clicked on this 'simple' Trial Ranking. You really made me think about myself and what I want myself to be. A big compliment to you for making this and I really enjoyed all the points you brought up about all the trials.

This video is so absolutely beautiful it made me tear up a handful of times. Really appreciate this kind of content nowadays.

This might legit be one of my favorite analyses of danganronpa cases/danganronpa as a whole i've seen. genuine art like holy shit

THANK YOU! Finally someone acknowledges the subtext that Kiyo was an SA victim! When the twist that this was all for his "beloved sister" dropped and I noticed how his "sister" was talking to him, my gut sank and I felt so awful for him, even worse when he revealed she was terminal and how tough of a situation it must be for a terminal family member to be abusing you in such a horrific manner. It is true that it isn't handled very gracefully though since it's basically done the same way a lot of 60s/70s low-budget drive-in Psycho-alike movies handle it (the fact that "killer is basically Norman Bates but we added sexual abuse to the equation and no we didn't handle it well it's just there for the shock value" was so common is disheartening), especially with the implication that the reason he's a bit more of a deviant is because of said abuse like that's not great, but like...ehh it's better than how a lot of people assumed he was just a freak and moved on.

Also aight as a Mahiru fan giving my two cents (btw I've...never heard her be heavily praised outside of GameGrumps before, I don't interact with the fandom much but my impression was that she largely is a rorschac test of a character where I haven't heard the same two opinions on her every time, but most of the time it's "she's there" and "haha Wendy what the heck is going on?" (which, I do appreciate that the meme made her a bit more appreciated)), I will admit I am biased since, especially in death game stories, I'm often drawn to the voice-of-reason-and-civility characters, I'm already partial to nicer characters (granted she is a bit more abrasive) but in a situation like this where I'm thinking "how would I survive?", I usually figure "find the nice one or at least the one who's the strongest believer in common decency and stick to them like a magnet, they're not going to kill me and we can watch each others' backs". The Takas and the like which Taka was already my second favorite character in the original (first obviously being KyoGOAT MVPgiri), and that is what initially made me like her is that "oh she's like Taka but with a few more braincells". Plus I like how she went out of her way to befriend the most puntable person there since she knows how it feels to be socially on your own, like dang girl that takes a lot of integrity to do, most people would've left Hiyoko by the curb and not touch her with a 40-foot stick. Then her backstory drops and like...it started to hit different that she's not all about the moral high ground for the sake of it, but because she's a two-in-one victim of being helpless against people who can abuse their power to frightening degrees as well as someone who from experience realizes that the cycle of violence is something horrible and dangerous. Now was she dumb for telling Fuyuhiko she knew what he did? Yes. Girl you need to watch more Columbo, the people who tell the killer they know what they did ALWAYS end up dying unless you're Karen from Any Old Port in a Storm (whether Carsini was not willing to go for the double kill or Columbo caught him before he could kill her we'll never know but the dialogue at the end suggests he was going to reluctantly take her up on her blackmail marriage proposal), especially a freaking yakuza heir. But it's so much more tragic if you analyze it from the perspective that her memory got jogged and she's just pleading for the cycle of violence to stop (given she explicitly said she wanted advice on how to make amends for what she did), that she and Fuyuhiko already lost too much before and during the killing game and she's just sick of it all, but it's just not enough. I just. I love characters who hate violence because they've partaken in it themselves and realize how damaging it truly is. Dumb final move on her end but it does make me emotional thinking of it as her asking Fuyuhiko if he's just tired of all this killing at this point.
Also with her free-time events, the caretaker burnout and having to give up a lot for the sake of being a caretaker, I related to her a bit too hard with that.
Dang, I didn't expect to write that much given I'm not the biggest DR fan as a whole but you did ask what I saw in her. 😅

Nothing short of Immaculate, this was an amazing video. I did not expect to get so hooked on a Danganronpa ranking video.

Genuinely astounding work.

Hi in many years I’ve watched YouTube I’ve never decided to write a comment. Your video and story moved me a lot and made me reconsider my outlook on the entire series and the themes it tackles. I would like to thank you for this video im truly sorry for your loss. Keep recording such amazing content you’ve made yourself a new viewer :)
