Crimea, Dzhur-Dzhur Waterfall, Khapkhal Gorge, and the mysterious Khapkhal Feathers!
Today, I, Alexander Mikhaylenko, am heading to one of the most beautiful and beloved places in Crimea—the area around the village of Generalskoye—to walk through the Khapkhal Gorge along the Ulu-Uzen River, see the famous Dzhur-Dzhur Waterfall, and climb a peak few tourists ever reach.
Dzhur-Dzhur is the most full-flowing waterfall in Crimea. The torrent of water cascades over a limestone ledge about 15 meters high, and upstream, the Ulu-Uzen River conceals picturesque rapids, cascades, and small waterfalls amidst the ancient Crimean forest. All of this is located within the Khapkhal Hydrological Reserve, one of the most amazing natural wonders of the Crimean Mountains.
But today, this trip is special for me—it's my birthday. I decided to spend this day right here, in a place I can call one of my favorites in all of Crimea.
My main destination is the KHAPKHALA FEATHERS. This incredible place, nestled among the cliffs and forests of the Khapkhal Gorge, offers truly breathtaking views. It offers a completely different atmosphere: the sound of water below, the mountain forest, the cliffs, and a sense of true wild Crimea far from the popular tourist routes.
After the KHAPKHALA FEATHERS, my journey continues higher into the mountains – to Stol-Mountain, or Nos Tyrke, at an altitude of approximately 1,240 meters. From here, a vast panorama of the Crimean Mountains, the Khapkhal Gorge, and the surrounding mountain ranges opens up. In good weather, this is one of those places where you just want to stop and look around.
