Elyos and Asmodian in AION 2 no longer differ in looks, classes, or stats: what changes is your map, main story, Field Bosses, wings, and server pairing.

The Asmodian claws and talon feet from AION 1 are gone. Both factions now share the same customization and the same 8 classes, with no racial stat bonuses or faction-specific skills. Each side still has its own zones, main town, leveling path, voice-acted main story, and Field Bosses with their own kill achievements and titles. The Spacetime Rift still takes you into enemy territory for Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, and pet collection monsters. Crafted gear is identical across factions and only the name changes, for example the True Dragon Lord Greatsword for Elyos and the Star Dragon Lord Greatsword for Asmodians. Servers are now split by faction and paired for the Abyss, and NC reshuffles those pairings every few weeks in Korea. The video ends with a showcase of Altgard, Morheim, Verteron, and Eltnen. Only Verteron and Altgard are available at launch: Advanced Access starts September 30th and the Global launch is October 5th.

Asmoedia is a much more visibly harsh and cutthroat environment where the story is driven by revenge and overcoming adversity; Elyos is bright and beautiful, but more "ivory tower" and elitist where the story is driven by power and hopeium.
I'd recommend experiencing both
