Today we’re semi revisiting an old topic with some updated information. In 2026 is the M240 vs the M10 getting into digital leica m cameras. Original M 240 batteries are starting to become available in Italy, at a cost of €100–€120.

Compare the M 262 to the M 240. Same body size but lighter because it's aluminum instead of brass. The 262 has no video capabilities so the battery (same as the 240 battery) lasts a very long time. I love my 262!

Thank you for making this vid. Highly informative and nicely balanced pros and cons. I was in the process of getting a 240 to add to the collection but decided against it once I found out about the battery.

I have an M240. I like the color and IQ. The battery will last a great long time. It is rugged and just shows up and does the job. The M9 is a little too much color. I like where this one is in color.

I just got the M10 a few days ago and I’m enjoying it I shoot film so I have the M3 and the M6 on my radar as well

Those m240 battery prices are insane. If you're coming in with nothing just save up to buy the latest Leica body (m11, ev1 etc), you'll be way happy!

I picked up an M-E 240. Has the 2gb buffer and made in 2019. Basically a M240P except you lose some functionality with that multifunction grip and you get the red dot and Anthracite paint. The battery shortage is frustrating. Still want a M10R tho. Not too far away in Amarillo. Need to get back up there soon!

I think your m240 battery comments are far from genuine in 2026.
They are freely available from Leica Customer Care and
also in the Leica stores.
Check the forums if you doubt this.
I bought a brand new one in March 2026 in the U.K. from Customer Care.
On various forums I have seen folks all across the US and Europe saying they have purchased a new battery now with no issues.
Enjoyed your video but your “con” is not a con !!
