I've been "semi-pro" for about 30 years, and have been playing an SE for about the last 4. It plays better than my Fender Strat (Mexican, 1997) and my G&L tele, so I don't have any complaints. I don't care if it says SE on the headstock.

What's considered "pro"? I gigged for years with Squires and Epiphones, they made me money, are they considered "pro"? As long as they're set up correctly to play well, and the electronics are reliable enough not to fail, then I believe it's enough to gig with.
I think an amp is more important, a low priced guitar into a good amp sounds much better than a high priced guitar into a junk amp.

PRS Artist here and I very much use a couple SE models on tour and they are totally built to stand on their own and not be watered down versions of their Core counterparts. Keep rocking John!

If it inspires you to play it, then it doesn't matter what it is, or who makes it.

The great thing for me about PRS SE guitars is that they are very consistent, easily available and pretty affordable. I have 3 of them (swamp ash special, 24/08, Silver Sky) and, with an hour of set up, they play perfectly for me.

I’m very comfortable doing any gig with them, from dodgy pub to pit work and all stops in between. I would never take a £1000+ guitar to some of the pub gigs I do, but a £500 SE is much less of a risk.

Just waiting for them to do an SE Fiore and my joy will be complete.

I have an SE Custom 24 that plays and sounds as good or better than my Gibsons and Fenders. Luv this guitar. Its also gorgeous.

Got an Indonesian SE 24 Custom. It is one of my best guitars. I have played my last 15 gigs with it. Sound, playability and reliability are excellent. And it is lightweight. All of this below 800 Euros.

I've seen Joe Walsh play one in concert. I've played one live and they act and respond like a pro level guitar

I have a Gold Top DGT SE and I’m continually knocked out by how good it feels and sounds.
I’m usually a pick up swapper, but not on this one.

I've seen SEs in the hands of some very pro guitarists indeed. I've had my SE Custom 24 for 11 years, and haven't felt the need to 'step up' at all, and I do get to play some very nice Core models on the regular.

Pro-guitars? Lets get back down to earth ladies and gentlemen.
Snooker Legend Stephen Hendry used a £40 machine-made cue for the majority of his career, including all seven of his World Championship titles.
While many professionals use expensive custom cues (often £500–£2,000+),
the consensus among players is that a cue's price does not guarantee performance, with some stating that a £550 cue is not significantly better than a £55 one.

Bernie Marsden (RIP) gigged his Signature SE models. Forget what SE stood for initially; students can still use them but so can super stars. I'm not a pro and at 75 I'm still learning, and I love my 2020 PRS SE Standard 24.

As you mentioned, I have heard it dubbed the 'Santana Edition' as it was his wish to have a more economical version of his guitar avaliable for fans. Also heard a PRS rep float 'Stevensville Edition' as that's where their plant is located in Maryland as they all, while made abroad, come to the plant for final QC and fine tuning before being distributed around the world.

Got a PRS SE Custom 24 Black Gold Sunburst for birthday back in Late July this year after trying it out @ Guitar Center and I’m glad I have a guitar as beautiful as mother’s eyes.😌🙌

Never get tired of your playing 🔥🔥🔥

That price point is well above a student level instrument price.

It’s not guitar to make good music. It’s your skill.

I’m a gigging musician and have a couple of PRS SE’s that I use. I don’t want to take a $3,000 or $4,000 guitar to a bar or festival gig. If my SE gets stolen or damaged it would stink, but at least it’s not an OMG day. Also, they need minimal setup and play great. Very easy playing guitar.
