Like most others here, I'll keep using my PC for ripping.  Without metadata, it's pointless.

I bought this solely the transport features. been looking for a compact cd transport that doesn't break the bank. The ripping feature is a plus but not a dealbreaker. Solid cd transporter and does its job well. Good review btw, cheers ~

Greatings from Sweden!

Great video as usual Mike. I was out of town for awhile so I almost missed it. Paul from PS Audio said that the DAC is far more important to the overall sound quality than the transport so you're in good company.

Bought one and it's quite good except for the fact it starts rutling and shaking like a washing machine with some cd's that are OK with other cd players

Great job again my friend

Have you considered the fiio dm13 for ripping cds? I recently purchased the fiio dm13 and I use it when I commute by bus, walking around and running errands while the fiio dm13 is being connected to my sennheiser hd 600 the original marble version.

So, can this function like a an regular external USB cd-rom drive to hook up your PC and have iTunes and other software's to rip the cd into the PC?

Hello, do you know if I could rip into a USB thumb drive or not? Thanks.

Hi, can I connect to the HiRose like a CD player? Thanks.

Yo  Mike you didn't mention what speed/ time the Cd60 rips the CD's!!!I am wondering if there is any means to use another program to easily tag the suckers.Ywah the portable FIIO portable only rips real time but it's half the price.Without a tagging function I don't see the point

For me this would be a transport most of the time and ripping an added bonus. Transports are all the same 100% same data transfer no matter what price point. It will be for most 95% of the time as transport to the DAC to the AMP. Most of the audio files you are able to download and for those few from your collection of CD's you rip. If you only use it for ripping I'm sure after a short time it becomes very easy and logical to get the titles and to convert to FLAC if desired. Compared to other options more expensive I think it comes down to connectivity and price. As a transport use optical and ripping use USB. USB can give some noise to playback where as optical for playback is silent. It has SANYO optical head HD850 Laser, Philips Drive. For the price it seems very capable and well made with known parts form brand manufacturers.

S.M.S.L. PL100 a better buy. Who needs ripped ifiles without metadata? As a transport, you may want to cover the quality of the tray.

Does this unit warm up the CD while playing it ?

Thanks again for your impressive channel and reviews.

I hope also you review Shanling et3 and CD 100 v25.

Kind regards and best wishes

Great review. If it doesn’t do proper tagging, it’s a no go for me.

Oh my God! Warehouse music, which was bought by the company who owned FYE, who also owned Suncoast, as well as Sam Goody "GOODY GOT IT!!!!" Aussie born here but grew up in California back in the 90s and 2000s. Those were great days and great shops. Any case nostalgia aside, does the USB connectivity allow this to just connect to a computer like an old school CD drive and just rip using your preferred ripping software?

do you have a tutorial on how to ripp cd the better way to have artists names and albums art?

Thanks for this. The ripping feature interests me. How long did you use it prior to review?

So, for ripping discs, is this any better than my Dell DW316, which I had to purchase when I realized that new desktops don't have them anymore?   I rip discs using Media Player, and it couldn't be any easier; all the metadata and artwork show up and are filed away, easy peasy.  This does not seem so straightforward.
