The real MVP of the film is Flectcher's assistant.

"But you're the only one that makes me feel bad" is heart wrenching.

Carey is a brilliant physical comedian. His faces and mannerisms are so over the top but the dude just fully commits and absolutely sells it. Truly a unique talent and one of the greats.

The thing I always appreciated is how they didn't fall into the "horrible stepfather" trope! That guy is genuinely a nice person, who is just doing the best he can with what he's been dealt. A dependable option, which makes the stakes more real in an otherwise ridiculous scenario.

The committment to physical comedy by Carrey is the reason why this movie is still so beloved.

They just don't make comedies like this anymore. When this first came out, my friends and I used to get together and watch it at least once a week for like 6 months. Really glad you liked it so much.

I died when Reed said “GOOD CAAALL!!!” after the Judge said “OVERRULE!!!” 💀💀💀💀💀

"I'm kickin' my ASS, doyamind?!" lives rent free inside my head.

They have to have made these movies specifically for him no way someone else could play these roles 😂

Something I forgot to mention, IIRC the whole bit with the Claw is something Jim borrowed from his childhood, as it was something his dad used to do.

@richardkinley8872 1 year ago

That scene towards the end “I HOLD MYSELF IN CONTEMPT” really shows Jim’s range he can make you cry from laughing so hard and he can make you cry with his intensity and passion.

Dumb and Dumber is probably his funniest role. The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind are probably the most interesting.

Kali, adding the blooper reel was an absolute must. Apart from the final movie cut. So much of the movie happens with Jim Carrey improv, it's like making three movies in one. The only way to give us a glimpse into his high level of creativity. A snapshot of that is a brilliant addition.

So awesome to see Kali laughing rather than crying and reliving trauma. Great reaction! You should definitely watch some more Jim Carrey comedies!

@Growler67 1 year ago

"Bruce Almighty", "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective", "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls" and "Me, Myself and Irene" are some of his better comedy offerings.

This is my favorite Jim Carrey movie. I remember watching this a ton of times as a kid. I really wish comedies like this were back, something I miss now a days.

@mattreid8098 1 year ago

You can really see the dramatic chops that Jim has in those little moments, you can understand why he was so good in later more dramatic roles, besides his comedy being just amazing, he’s just one of those actors that can blend comedy and drama to great effect. He’s always been a true talent in my eyes.

Your giggles are the best. :D

Carrey is another legendary gem. An underrated Carrey movie that is both funny and also shows off his versatility and ability as a more serious actor is "The Majestic".
