Ruth Ilene Jensen Whalen Deardeuff passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Monroe, Washington at the age of 96. Today millions of people know her only as “G.G.” because one particular of her great grandchildren has often shared with his legions of fans that he called her that. He speaks of G.G. when he tells the story of the emotional and heartfelt song he wrote and sings about her that has touched the souls of so many people. Were it not for Benson Boone and his moving song “In the Stars”, remembrance of G.G. may have stayed amongst her close and loving family and friends. But now, for millions of people who never knew her personally, Ruth Jensen’s vast and enduring legacy will be a testament to the lasting impact of remarkable people in our lives who’ve made a profound impact upon us. And if the humble, kind, caring, and funny Benson Boone is any indication of the character and influence she bestowed upon her descendants, and they in turn upon their's, the world is destined to be a better place for all.

Knowing that this song is about his great-grandmother, the verse about the crumpled $20 hits hard -- I think most kids had their grandparents put money in birthday cards.

Song is about the death of his Great GrandMother whom he was very close to.  Hence the lyrics.

His Audition is on YouTube😊. This song was a tribute to his great grandmother. He wrote Little Runaway for his sister who has struggled at times w/mental health. His Momma’s Song he wrote for his parents and Mr. Electric Blue is about his dad who is like a superhero to him.  He just. performed in London last night w/Brian May, Queen’s lead guitarist and did Bohemian Rhapsody and his own song Beautiful Things. You should try to check those out b/c he and Brian have a special friendship and they are fantastic together!

Very deep song

Thank you 😊

Im pretty sure i had you watch his audition in stream a while back

It's about his great-grandmother. He is a gorgeous guy, no need for a beard!

I recommend checking out Benson's "Momma Song".  If you do, be sure to watch the video all the way to the end.

Steven, you should check out his discography. Yes his songs can be heartbreaking, but they're so beautiful. I saw him live back in October, 2024 and his personality and energy is off the charts. And his songs are so relatable to many of us fans. He is human after all and we each have our own situations, but we all feel and express the same emotions.
