I like the 1911 45 caliber. It only has a limited ammo count, but works every time and hits hard.

I am retired from small town law enforcement and when I turned my Glock I was actually happy to be rid of it.  Since then I mostly carry a Smith & Wesson Model 36 .38 special five shot and never regretted it.  I no longer have to be concerned with pulling over a carload of ne'er-do-wells and almost always carry it concealed.
Another reason I hate Glocks is the same reason I don't care for semi-autos.  Now that I am old I have difficulty manipulating the slide.  Out of five pistols I have only one semi-auto.  It is a STAR BM 9mm.  I can manage the slide on it, it is 9mm and as a result is inexpensive and fun to shoot.
Talk about a gun that is concealable and never jams a revolver is good enough for me.

I rejected the FBI's "9mm is just as good as 40" study after I observed that it stated that stopping power was a myth. Were that true, why carry a 9mm at all? Why not a 380, or a 22?

It actually made seven assertions. Three were about saving money. One was barely relevant, two should have applied equally to any caliber, and one was false. So for general service use, I'm sticking with my 40's.

I mostly carry 9mm loaded with Gold Dots, but I also sometimes carry a Glock 30, also loaded with Gold Dots.  I've been considering a Glock 23, for the .40 and ti swap barrels for .357 Sig.

I used a S&W mod 28 357mag for almost my entire time in police work. I walked away from three shootings with armed felons. Four never saw a courthouse. All went down with one shot. So you think I'd carry a 9mm that requires multiple rounds to stop the fight? You've got to be kidding.😒 Today I carry a 38SPL+P double action revolver. I use what works.

A retired cop is a civilian now, and as a civilian, a 6 shot snubby with an internal hammer and .38 + P ammo is sufficient for self defense in my opinion. Carry an extra speed strip or 2 if capacity is a concern.

38 years.   .40 S&W Browning Hi Power or .45 1911 here.

I mostly carry my S&W M&P Shield .40. My .45 Glock 30 if I am going to be in a higher crime area.

I prefer the 45acp 1911. A big ball of 45acp led is usually going to get the job done. I prefer a .357mag revolver over a .357sig semi-auto.

I carry my Glock 19 9MM alternating with my S&W .38 caliber.  Admittedly use different grain ammo. 9mm use 124 grain, 15 round mag one in chamber.

I'll keep carrying my Israeli built Jericho 941 9mm, 17+1 and it hits right were I intend to put the rounds, my back up is a S&W 486 .38 spc with 5 rounds, I carried an M9 Beretta as an MP and it served me well and hit were I Aimed, I'm not telling anyone they're wrong because they hopefully chose a gun that they can reliably put rounds on target

The recent FBI study was conducted by "civilian" staff a the their Firearms Unit at Quantico, Virginia. The Firearms TRAINING Unit is completely different. This study quoted was conducted by running mathematical models and classic gel testing. My own option is that the end result that was "found" was exactly what they were looking for. Remember back in the day, "shooters' wanted the 10mm, but it proved difficult to train with and tons could not qualify. So the magical .40 S&W  was created using the spec's from a powered down 10mm. It took about 25 years, but everything can full circle and now we're back to the 9mm Glock. You can't tell me this issue was decided purely by economics. You can't tell me the US Secret Service was overjoyed to drop their SIG P229 in .357SIG for a Glock 19 in 9mm. Just sayin" .....

XDs are not popular. Glocks and other autos vastly outnumber them. The only Springfield I have owned was a 1911.

There's a lot of garbage on this channel.

Ask real cops and not political studies done by yes men. Large agencies arm their people according to politics and funds available. Civilians follow the golden rule: Carry what the cops carry and carry insurance and a back up. Please not this is not legal advice just an observation only. (not intended for instruction)

I'll stick with my (old school) M1l911A1 .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol. Watching from Midwest City Oklahoma USA. 🇺🇲

I like my XDs but I like my Hellcat better.

Glock 23 in .40 or S&W 642 in .38 special, will do for me.
