A Doordash driver who was shot in the back by an ice agent in Texas made his first court appearance yesterday, after federal prosecutors charged him with assaulting an officer. Prosecutors allege the driver's side window of Wilber Garces Perez’s car struck the ICE agent in the torso when the 28-year-old from Venezuela tried to flee immigration officials earlier this month. Other witness accounts from that day say it was ICE who sideswiped Garces Perez's vehicle. MS NOW’s David Noriega joins Morning Joe live from Austin where he spoke to Garces Perez’s legal team. The District Attorney for Travis County, Texas –which includes the city of Austin— José Garza, also joined the show. Garza is conducting an investigation with Austin Police into the shooting of Garces Perez, looking into whether ICE officers broke any laws in the case.
