I live in Tasmania, the main thing I'd warn tourists about is the insane UV radiation during the summer months.
It can go well above 12 on the UV scale which is higher than places like Death Valley in the US.
You will get sunburn within 10 to 15 minutes of exposure. Please use sun screen.

My sister and dad live in Tassie, I visit 3-4 times a year for 25 odd years and I still see something new every time. Amazing place

The dairy that is produced in Tasmania is also some of the best.

One of Australia's oldest and most well-known producers, King Island Dairy, almost closed for good a couple of years ago when its Canadian owners, Saputo, announced it's closure. Then it found an Australian buyer to continue its operation.

Tassie here, Funny story about the poppy farms. In the North West of the state there were sightings of crop circles in the fields for a while, no one could figure out how they were getting there and the usual alien theories started popping up until someone finally spotted a wallaby in the fields, it had eaten the poppies, gotten high as F and started just hopping around in circles.

Pangea was the original supercontinent, in the dinosaur era. At the start of the Jurassic period, Pangaea started to break up and form two two large masses, Gondwana and Laurasia. Gondwana included most of the land masses in today's southern hemisphere, including Antarctica, South America, Africa, Madagascar and Australasia, as well as the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent, which have now moved entirely into the northern hemisphere. Laurasia contained the rest of today's northern hemisphere continents including Europe, North America and Asia.

There was an American who knew where Tasmania was but they passed away in the 19th century.

I am Tasmanian. My son worked in Antarctica for a couple of months. His job was to skipper a small inflatable boat breaking up sea ice to ensure they could transfer fuel ashore through a temporary pipeline.

With the exception of the Redwoods in California, Tasmania also has some of the worlds biggest and tallest trees , the Mountain ash Eucalyptus

I live in Tassie and travel the world but coming home is always amazing. We have a beautiful planet and Tassie is the icing on the cake.

We don't just get left off world maps, we frequently get left off Australian maps and news services... but that can be a good thing too; it probably contributes to our clean air and pristine water.

Hectare's are easy to picture, if you picture a 100 metre by 100 metre square (though it's a unit of area so it can be any shape.) It's metric, thus realy easy to work with.

There's a mountain just north of where I live called Ben Lomond which has a lot of those collumns in it.

We recently acquired an electric car and mostly charge it off our own solar panels (supplemented from the green Tassie grid) so we're already starting down the 100% path. We live almost 100Kms from Launceston so we used to spend about $1000 per month of petrol. Life is much better with an EV!

Our local farmers make bank on the poppy crop, but they rotate the crops with potatoes, barley, cattle, canola (visually stunning!) etc... so no one field grows poppies all the time. The canola crops actually attract tourists now because of how striking they are.
