I am so profoundly sad for the families and the communities.  The opening statement is brilliant.

What an amazingly,  dedicated, and talented attorney to memorize without hesitation exactly what that kid did, what he did it with, and where and to whom . Impressive work.

There is something we all need to be doing better. This shouldn't be happening. Those poor families.

I understand the huge problem with proper care for those suffering with mental issues, however the largest problem is the easy access  everyone has to assault style weapons. For the future of our children all assault style weapons must be removed from citizens and the mental health problems in this country have to be addressed seriously. The pain and suffering that all the parents and families have suffered has been completely needless. If people in this country would put human life above greed, politics, and worshiping firearms and especially assault style weapons many lives would have been spared.

The Prosecution should not have gone for the death penalty.  This is a colossal waste of time and resources.  I wonder if all the parents were told the death penalty means 20+ years of appeals.  They probably won’t live to ever see him executed.  Life without parole meant it would have been over.

The first four victims didn’t stand a chance, but the other 13 would’ve had such a better chance had the school actually called an active shooter. The kids on the 1st floor could’ve had more time to get out of view of the door and the kids on the 3rd floor would’ve never left their class. Granted, if he wasn’t getting enough from it he may have opened the class doors and it would’ve been far worse. Regardless this school screwed up in so many ways

Amazing attorney!! Even with the terrible description it was so respectful! In many ways for the victims and their families. I feel so much angry over that guy!!! I admire the parents and respect the way they are honoring the lives of their lovely kids by not Reacting or killing that stupid evil 👿!!!!!! God bless them 💫💖🙏

This is disgusting. This boy had multiple issues for many years before this. There were so many opportunities for mental health professionals to step in, work with him, help him... all along each step failed him. This is a tragedy on all levels. I am so sorry that these children and teachers died, were horrifically traumatized for the rest of their life, the parents, forever without their children. But the death sentence will not stop this from happening in the future. The only thing that will stop this is learning from it.... identifying the many MANY signs that happened before this incident ever happened. He should have been placed in protective care and given mental health help long before this was ever even a thought, a possibility. Next, 100+ rounds?????? Seriously????? Limiting magazine sizes is a MUST. No one should have accesses to being able to let off 100+ rounds EVER unless you are a military or police member using this in a military or police situation.
Is Nikolas guilty of this. Without a doubt. But so are the schools, and the mental health individuals, and mental health boards that denied him the care and attention he desperately needed. And so are the lawmakers that don't create effective laws, such as effective background checks and limiting magazine sizes, so this does not happen. There needs to be many more held accountable than just this single, highly disturbed young man.

The prosecutors did an amazing job, much more professional than the defense.

When hearing the procedure of turning the lights out and shutting the classroom      door(s)  as a safety precaution where the perpetrator is perhaps literally right around the corner... it can remind one of how people turn the lights off for a scary movie in order to intensify, but that part of the procedure was only in addition to the terror that the unfortunate Stoneman Douglas student's and staff had to endure.  This case also unfortunately had the individual instances of which can come about in these kind of mass shooting situations, Joaquin running to temporary sanctuary before finally having his fate sealed. Jaime running almost making it to the door...
And Aaron shielding students from such powerful gunfire.  His actions taken remind me of the unfortunate circumstances associated with the principal at Sandy Hook Elementary, who tried to charge the gunman while bare handed.

Whew this one's gonna be a hard one 😐
