I'm glad you came back and gave us another try! And very glad it's hitting for you.

Just a couple little things: Zeus is def NOT Diana's dad (we haven't been explicit on page yet, but she was created by Hippolyta and the Goddesses). Amazons are not/will not be bad/evil (which I do think is explicit on the page -- but a lot of people have speculated anyway).

And that photo you keep showing is not me. lol. Weirdly...it's my friend DeAnne...who is not a writer. So not sure what's up with that.

I also ADORE how pretty much half of the fights end with "I have nothing to gain from it, you have little to gain from it, should we really?" and then they just don't fght at all lol.
Diana is so cool for this.

I gotta say, that excerpt about Aphrodite and her features being obscured because Love can have the well poisoned by lust and seeing a person whole requires trust. Is one the best things I’ve heard in days

Maybe my favorite detail about Absolute WW that wasn't even in a  WW comic proper was how she was addressed in Absolute Evil; the villains are going over their respective adversaries and their exploits, and as they kind of power scale debate about which ones are a threat and why, someone brings up, "there have always been people with powers and we've always dealt with them..." And Cale points out that she doesn't care about Diana having a big sword, or punching a monster, or having magic, or being from hell, etc... what stands out to her is how Diana, a total atranger and alien element, walked into an active crisis zone under strict martial law and started giving orders, and everyone just listened to her.  They trusted her.  And Cale hates and is threatened by how she comes by that power so naturally.

Other than just being a really cool character trait, it is a nod to Marston's concept of "Love Leaders".  It's an idea he pushed in his real world psychology work, that real power and authority belongs to people you can trust to make decisions for you with your best interest in mind, which he considered the strong suit of feminism and that he built into the bedrock of the original Wonder Woman comics.

9:15 I absolutely love Diana's response. It's freaking hilarious. And fantastically written dialogue. Polite, cordial, just patronizing enough to show she's frustrated, and then her abrupt response to the guys asking what an Undead Pegasus eats. Great. Got a good laugh out of me.

22:55 while she's definitely reminiscent of Hindu gods this is taken from classical depictions. Hecate was described as threefold and this extends into art where she's often depicted with 3 sets of arms and 3 heads/3 faces on one head.

Everytime I read an Absolute book it becomes my favorite of the bunch.

“I loved the Percy Jackson series-“ yeah I can tell. (Me too)

28:12 her clay origin is canon to the Absolute Universe. it was used against her in the Batman crossover issue since it makes her similar enough to a magical golem that a control spell for one was effective. (i think it's canon in mainline again as well--Mark Waid did a lot of clean up in his New History)

"absolute Wonder woman is a queer icon"

Eh... I'm not convinced...
(Not me literally planning my amateur drag persona with absolute Diana as an inspiration/lh)

I like that Medusa lampshades the differences between her oldest known origin story, and her Roman origin story that most people are familiar with. The rape was added by Ovid, or some Roman Ovid quoted. Before that she was a half-God monster, similar to the Nephilim of Genesis.

I saw one view and 2 minutes ago, I am now the 16th person watching at the 15 minute ago mark. I will now be subscribing. bro I LIKE YOUR BRAIN

Just finished the video, great stuff! This, absolute martian Manhunter, and absolute Green Lantern have been my 3 favourites and this was a great breakdown of Absolute Wonder Woman.

1:34 You better be, even darksied was like nah "you are a problem I will send you to hell so you suffer" and then she was driving and he was like "damn this is tuff she, you know what let her cook" AND SHE DIDNT SHE THRIVED IN HELL SHE HELLA STRONG NOW SHE IS OVER 2 METERS TALL OHHH LAWD thank you darksied

26:50 zues is not the father of Diana. That was only in the new52. She is the daughter to no one except Hyppolyta

Part of the reason why I loved New 52 is that the greek gods also have very creative designs, I actually tried (and failed, misserably) to model Poseidon in Blender (Also the firstborn was a fantastic villain, if you ask me), Absolute WW gives me vibes of the parts I liked about New 52.

One of the best things about Absolute Wonder Woman it's how much it sticks close to the main universe, while also doing so many original and cool things! It's basically a coherent compilation of her greatest hits!
And yes, all the characters you see in this book (supporting cast and villains) do exist in the mainline universe, but some of them are "different" (either as a subversion or as foreshadowing for future events, I don't know, but I'm not going to spoil you).

here's few of my Personal recommendations for Wonder Woman stories:

- WONDER WOMAN HISTORIA: AMAZONS (Kelly Thompson cited this one as an inspiration for Absolute Wonder Woman. That, and the fact it gained multiple awards, is how you know this is GREAT);
- WONDER WOMAN BY GEORGE PEREZ
- WONDER WOMAN HIKETEIA
- WONDER WOMAN BY PHIL JIMINEZ
- WONDER WOMAN BY GAIL SIMONE
- WONDER WOMAN: DEAD EARTH
- WONDER WOMAN BY GREG RUCKA (He did 2 runs: The first one and the "Rebirth Era" one. The first one is a MASTERPIECE, and the second one is pretty good. Not on the same level, but still worth a read).

Whatever you do, just stay away from Wonder Woman New 52 (It's the one that changed her story from "made from Clay and magic" to "daughter of Zeus", and the one that turned the Amazons into rapists. It's TERRIBLE...) and the current Wonder Woman run, by Tom King (It's just boring).

Oh my god this channel is such a gem! I love your analysis of the Absolute universe and the way these stories are reflecting the world. I had the biggest smile on my face watching this whole video

I am pleased to see you checking this out!
