After climbing Ben Nevis in difficult summit conditions, I wanted to make this video to talk honestly about the real dangers of hillwalking and climbing Munros in Scotland.

Even in late May, conditions on Scottish mountains can become dangerous very quickly.

During my climb I saw people attempting Ben Nevis with poor footwear, little equipment, no walking poles and no understanding of summit weather conditions.

Sadly, this video comes after tragic incidents in the Scottish hills this weekend.

RIP to Adam Chalmers, who died in the Ben Lawers range, and condolences also to the family and friends of Timothy Rosser, whose body was recovered in the Glencoe area following searches.

The mountains in Scotland are beautiful — but they demand preparation, respect and caution.
